Title: Favorite game credits sequences?
Post by: Phil on February 12, 2015, 04:21:09 PM
A lot of game credits nowadays are just lame, especially stuff like Ubisoft games where it's 20 minutes of names listing everyone from top designers to janitors to QA technicians in countries that I have to believe are mostly made up to pad the credits length (joking, but you get what I mean).
Super Mario 64 - The new 3D graphics meant Nintendo took great liberties with the camera, dynamically showing each level in the game with awesome views and pans.

Mario Kart 64 - One of my favorite credit themes accompanies by overviews of all of the tracks within the game with Nintendo once again showing off the 3D of their new system.

Viewtiful Joe - Great theme accompanied by movie posters based off real life movies like Star Wars, King Kong, and Jaws, and then proceeded by a look at all of the characters in the game.

What credits sequences are your faves? Do you have links to share?

There's one that immediately springs to mind and jumps to the top of my list.
F-ZERO GX!
The best video I can find of it is here. It shows the whole final mission but if you skip to 5:58, you'll begin the end credits as you stare at Captain Falcon's buns of steel and wonder what he looks like without the helmet. But the credits begin along with one of the greatest songs ever recorded as a singer proceeds to sing a torch song and give it up for the CAP-E-TAN! Just as you think this ballad is winding down, it then launches into an amazing EDM beat that will make Clavin Harris or Deadmaus jealous with envy. At the same time, the credits show a bunch of the cinematic story cutscenes allowing you to see the whole twisting and turning plot play out at once instead of mission by mission. It's great stuff and I beat mission 9 many a time just to hear this song.

I like how the Smash Bros. games make them interactive. I think Melee's my favorite, but I also really like the ones on Wii U.

Bayonetta 1 and 2's end credits are genuinely enjoyable to view, with a few mini game moments thrown in as well.

Chrono Trigger, without question. Not only is "To Far Away Times" pretty much a perfect song for an ending send-off, but the way that it cuts away to show an epilogue for every character is just extremely well-done.
Terranigma also has an excellent one that's quite bittersweet, though if you haven't played the game it will make no sense to you.
Recently become a fan of Lightning Returns' ending credits, where it plays music & video from all 3 FF 13 games as the credits scroll.
I'm also a fan of some Ending Credits like Majora's Mask's, but as that game is just coming out again I'll leave out the video.

Guitar Hero 3 is way up there.

How are you guys embedding the videos? Sorry I didn't do that, but I can edit my post to do so.
Anyway, these are awesome picks!

If you hit quote on any of the post with videos and then look at the text of the message, you'll see what the YouTube tags are to embed the url address and video. However, when you copy a YouTube url, it has https at the start. If you past that in between the YouTube tags, the video will not appear. You need to remove the s and make sure the url begins with just http. Happy embedding!

Yeah... My picture could be posted again to respond to your newest post, since it's basically the same argument only reworded differently.
Since when has redundancy stopped these forums?

The best thing about the Super Mario 64 credits is that if you have a second controller plugged in, you can control the camera with its control stick. Most area shots have a Mario somewhere in them, sometimes you can see them normally but sometimes you need to use the second stick to find him. I remember finding this out on accident way back when and thought it was neat.

What?!? :o :o :o
I've never known about this before! Playing a 'Where's Mario?' game during the end credits sounds like a great idea.

MGS3: Snake Eater Credits: They really tied the whole ending together perfectly I think
Star Fox 64 Credits: Brilliant ending

Phil, why are you buggering around with url= code? You don't need any of that. All you need is the two youtube tags and then you just paste the url of the youtube video in the middle of those tags.
Like I said, do a quote of someone else in this thread who has embedded a video and copy that example. You'll be able to see how they posted their link.

I DID do that... :/
I copied the url and pasted it in between my two Youtube tags. I didn't do anything with code. I even took another user's post, quoted it, and put my url inside it and it still didn't work.

Then maybe it is one of the forums odd issues of reformatting someone's text. This is a fake example but when you are making your reply or post, this is what the text should look like:
In which "http://www.youtube.com/whatevertherestoftheurlis" is just the http link you copy from the YouTube url and then paste inbetween those boxes.
Here's another example with your Super Mario 64 ending. Quote this post and your original one and compare the difference between how the two links are embedded.
EDIT: Yeah, I see you're getting it now.

There we go. Code was being added even though I didn't press any button. How bizarre.
Anyway, here's another good credits one!
Thanks for your help, Khush, and everyone else!

It seemed most N64 games by Nintendo had phenomenal endings. Loved the music too.
Ocarina of Time's ending was long but it felt glorious for the time. Still holds up well too.

I can't shot videos because I use software that prevents me from seeing them so this whole thread is a wall of nothing for me. I will just share the ones I like and you can find them if you want.
NES: XEYYZ- First game I ever beat awesome ending and amazing feeling since it was a hard as hell NES game. Super Mario Bros. 2- Love that ending to this day, also first Mario game I ever beat. Friday the 13th- not the ending NEVER got that far but the Game Over screen is the ****, You and your friends are Dead. The End.
SNES- Super Mario World- still my all time favorite Mario game and the end credits were always cool treat. What always bothered me is I NEVER new about that hidden level so the image with those under water bomb guys always bugged me because I could never find them so I thought it was just a glitch they were in the end credits until one day I googled Super Mario World 100% and discovered I had been missing a level all these years. Kirby Super Star- I like the Spring Breeze, Wilky Way Wishes and Great Cave Offensive they were pretty good. Sim City- this is a hard one to get to but it is well worth it if you do, the Game Over Screen is also kind of fun to trigger if you really try.
Genesis- Sonic 2- first game on Genesis I played/beat still loved the ending had a nice little mini movie was pretty cool at the time and loved the music. Turrican- I like everything about this game from the music to the levels the credits are built into the menu so you don't even have to beat the game to see them, something they must have known most people would not accomplish without cheating anyways so they knew what they were doing. Toe Jam and Earl 2 Panic on Funkotron- one of my favorite games had multimple endings well two I think both pretty good.
Game Cube- Melee, nothing new to add it was awesome. Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance as with most MK games the credits were pretty good this was the best though
That is about it for me, I honestly don't beat or finish that many games, have beaten more than this but none of they are anything special.

Aliens: Infestation (DS) had some appropriately kick-ass music during the end credits that was memorable for me - mostly because it was totally unexpected, so spoil at your own risk. (If it's not already too late... hahaha.)
(Skip to the 10:00 mark to bypass the final boss fight and jump right to the ending.)
The only other game that stands out right now is Tatsunoko vs Capcom (Wii). Like most fighting games, every fighter gets their own ending, but unlike most there is a mini-game during the credits that changes slightly depending on who you beat the game with and can unlock a cool extra game mode if you did well enough.
And here is a video showing what the extra game mode is like:

When wanting to unlock that mini-game, I beat the final boss with Roll so I could have an easier time with the credits. (She flies on a broom.)
