The Nintendo eShop is vastly becoming home to a vast array of colorful titles. With new games arriving every single week, they will always have the chance to delight us. In our reviews of these eShop titles, we usually tell you what we think, though every single one of us has their own preferences.

Thus, we are bringing odes to our favourites and inform you about the titles that were well worth remembering this year. Our resident download enthusiasts have come together and have brought their unique perspectives to the forefront!

Maybe it's just my computer, but the images are broken on Mr. John's page!

Anyway, my favorites in 2014 were Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, Shovel Knight, Guacamelee: STCE, Scram Kitty, Ninja Battle Heroes, Armillo, Tappingo 2, and if I think of the others, I'll post them! :)

Shovel Knight was game of the year for me, and not just eShop or Nintendo but overall the best game of 2014.

I await Super Shovel Knight, or Shovel Knight Plus or Shovel Knight 64...wait maybe not 64.

Nope. Images are broken links on my computer as well.

Also, Daan is "the consumer of everything downloadable". Interesting. Are you going to take that Insanolord?

5. SteamWorld Dig
4. Pushmo World
3. Shantae and The Pirate's Curse
2. Shovel Knight
1. Knytt Underground

Honorable Mentions: Child of Light, Guacamelee, Thomas Was Alone.

Ok, so #1 was a late December 2013 release, but it shaped so much of my 2014 gaming that I have to give it credit because I didn't have an experience like it all year.

I probably buy close to as many download games as he does, but if he's talking about actually playing them he's probably got me beat. I tend to not get around to a lot of them for a while.

I just noticed that he's the one who posted this article so maybe you can still hold on to your claim to fame by citing this as a conflict of interest on his part.

:Q  Just noticed that Ninja Battle Heroes wasn't reviewed by NWR, or if it was, I missed it!
Seriously, it's a great, cheap 3DS 2D platformer with lots of charm, great use of 3D, and challenging! Too bad it has such a generic-sounding name! I'll post a review in the User Review section when I finish the game!

I bought quite a few eShop games (more than retail ones, unsurprisingly), and I'm surprised to see Xeodrifter but no Shantae. I would also nominate the Keep, which is an excellent dungeon crawler with really great production value.

You sure about that? I buy stuff from three different regions after all, haha. :)

Always happy to hear about the great eShop games out there, especially since I tend to overlook some of them! I'll be sure to check some of these out.

I just have to say, I'm shocked that Guacamelee didn't get more love. A specific episode of Connectivity convinced me to try it and my wife and I absolutely love playing it co-op!
