Title: For those who played AoS.
Post by: Sir Daniel Fortesque on June 29, 2003, 05:50:46 PM
How long is the game? I've heard for the reviews that is a bit on the short side, but comparing it to CoTM and HoD, is it really that short?

I want to submit the suggestion that the game's full title be used at first when introducing it as a point of topic, just so that everybody knows what you are talking about.  If one thinks about it, there are literally thousands of games out there, each with their own series of letters as an acronym, and not everybody is going to know which game that acronym implies.  I did manage to get it, and most probably will, but I've seen it fail, before.

I didn't think Circle of the Moon or Harmony of Dissonance were too short.  I loved both and, of course, wish both were larger, but that holds true for many games out there.  Wow, I didn't know this game was out, yet, as I have not seen it, but I guess it is.  I am browsing through the reviews of it listed at GameRankings.com and it seems to have raked in some good scores across the board.  It presently is averaging a score of roughly 90.5%, which is better than the majority of games out there.  One site even scored it 100%!

Must... get it!

the game took me 14 hours to beat my first time though.
(that's 14 hours of save time, probably 16-18 total play time)

i didn't use any guids/maps and i was pretty set on collecting as many souls as possible.

i can see how people could realistically get through the game in under 6 hours if they weren't going for all the souls and avoided enemies whenever possible.

Heh.  When I first saw this thread, I was trying to think of what AoS might be.  The only thing I could think of was Age of Sail, and I didn't think that was for GameBoy at all.  When I saw CoTM and HoD, I gave up completely.  3 cryptic acronyms weren't helping me much.

I see now that you are talking about Castlevania, which I know nothing about.

Aria of Sorrow is a bit shorter than Circle of the Moon.  I severly disliked Harmony of Dissonance though, which probably just seemed long because it was so boring.

I finished Aria about 8 hours my first time through, took roughly 12 when i got all souls etc.   REALLY fun game though, its just a blast to play, It may be short, but the different weapons make quite a difference.

Its not as good as symphony of the Night, but who could expect anything to EVER be.
