Title: Your wishes for Mario Maker
Post by: tendoboy1984 on December 20, 2014, 03:59:23 PM
What stuff do you want to see added to Mario Maker? I'm hoping we can make boss fights and use warp pipes to connect different sections of a level. Making entire worlds would be nice also, but I doubt it'll go that far. Playing as Luigi instead of Mario would be great.

When do you expect the game will be released? I'm hoping it's released early next year, between February and April.

I hope that the game comes bundled with a download code for Kaizo Mario World.

Why, you can just make your own Kaizo Mario levels in Mario Maker. They'll require actual skill to beat instead of cheating with slowdown tools and save states.

I just want the level sharing capabilities to be fleshed out and effective. I wouldn't be any good at making levels, but I'd buy the game if they made it easy to share and discover levels. Something like the Brawl level editor feature where they pick out good ones and send them to everybody on a regular basis.

Easy level sharing, you mean like the Mario vs DK games or Pushmo World?

Double post...

The level slider is the same length in the new version and the E3 version, and the levels in the E3 demo were very short. I'm guessing we won't be able to make full length levels with this editor.

It seems the levels might be short...but then they may just be showing us one size.  Perhaps you can choose from 3 sizes or something.

Personally, I would hope we can have

1) an Auto scroll feature for the levels.
2) Descent Vertical control.  I think at least 2 full screens for vertical level design would be great.
3) Play as Mario, Toad, Peach, and Luigi...all with their unique attributes.

I was trying to be facetious. : P

No, honestly, I want some sort of basic level scripting editor or such... something like the continuous offscreen random gen'd bullet bill launching or something a little more involved than loading a different item into something that by default launches something... maybe Hammer bros that throws hammers that do a reverse gravity parabolic sort of hammer toss, or other things...?

I also secretly want object/enemy editor, but that isn't happening primarily because of the New Super Mario Bros. skin.

So how about a release date? Do you expect the game to be released before E3? I'm guessing between February and April.

April to August

1. New animations for the older visual styles (e.g. 8-bit Mario is given a wall-jump animation).

2. All power-ups from every 2D Mario.

3. Unlockable Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins visual style.

4. Peach, floaty jump.

5. Ability to create a world map.

6. Ability to make "cutscenes" (like adding custom dialog when Toad freaks out before the airship stages in Super Mario Bros. 3 which I realize has the strong potential to be abused).

7. Ability to ride Yoshi.

8. Better box art.

This is a wish list so I don't think most of these are going to happen in the final release. I'd like to see them in an inevitable sequel.

All I want in addition to what has been announced is Super Mario Bros 2 mode and it not costing more than $15

This style would be fun, especially if they allowed to to change the enemies into more traditional Mario bad guys like goombas.

Ideally, I want this to be as robust as the homebrew Reggie! level editor for Wii, which pretty much allowed you to use all the elements that the developers had. Except with tools that are easier to use of course, as figuring out how to use the more complex elements like screen scrolling required a bit of programming knowledge.

I don't think that's how this game is going to end up though, but I at least hope there's more to it than what we've seen. I also hope it has good sharing features as well.

up until the final episode of Dark Souls, this was probably my favorite video Slowbeef ever produced, Pokepal.
