Cool, though.

Hey Mario the link does not work, maybe you could repost link? If this news is offical then this game would be a great addition to the GameCube library.

In the words of Rove McMannus...... "What The....?"
Silent Hill 3 REVIEW? RPG that's better than Goldeneye?
Uh, maybe it's the slow reaction time of the Europeans, since April Fool's Day was months ago. Or maybe this is

MEGATON?

Rove McMannus? Bah!
Mario, the link does not work. Still, I'm having a hard time believing that Silent Hill 3 would be ported to GameCube. This is Konami we are talking about here! This has not been reported on gaming sites (the ones I visit).

Dont worry about the text, its just jibberish placeholder text. The picture however, is supposedly final. The link should be working, if its not then i edited my post *look up* with another link that works. Remember that this is from the official website of the magazine. It could be real, it could be fake though.

Fake It must be, Slient hill 3 reviewed already no thanks! It ain't even been confirmed on Gamecube. And the whole mag to me seems fake.I get NOM every month and they said a free gift would be included in julys issue but it would be a inflatable pokeball not what seems like to be the american demo disc that cost $10 and we get it for free, must be dreaming. And at the top it says "we score the game of the year" referring to TLOZ:WW did'nt they do that 3 issues ago?

Dont pay attention to the text. Just the layout is final. And the picture. It will probably be "preview" instead of "review".
Im not totally convinced its real though. Id say theres a 50/50 chance.

I'm not sure what to think. On the one hand Hideo Kojima only recently said that there would be no SH3 on the GC. On the other hand this is confirmed to be next months cover for Nintendo OFFICIAL Magazine in the UK. The only thing I know is that I am definately getting this issue for the Viewtiful Joe demo alone.

The original poster forgot or simply didn't have this information - its what linked subsribers to the info... btw I'm not a subscriber so I can't link any of you... ask someone else:
(from Emap / Nintendo Official Magazine publisher staff) "If you're here, you should by now have seen both the next cover of NOM and the possible free demo disc that we're thinking of sticking on the cover. Go wild, let us know everything you think about the cover and the demo disc. If you want to say something else about the magazine, or just want to get something random off your chest, there's another vent box below."
They're asking for opinions on it right here: http://www.emapmagazines.co.uk/NOM_panel_ima ges.shtml
They're showing that cover to subsribees as you can see. God knows why they'd torture with them with that image if it wasn't a hint... there are some naff stories on there that don't make sense though: "Super Mario Kart - why this is Mario's funniest outing ever" and "GBA Section: why this is Mario's funniest outing ever".... as well as "The RPG thats finally better than GoldenEye"... hmm.
That said: the stories could be placeholders simply there to represent the new look. As indicated by last months issue there is an image change happening over this and the next issue ("Stop Press. Nom is changing" - page 129, issue 130). I also found variants of the images at that link btw those images (below):
EMap.com About NOM page: http://www.emap.com/nav?page=emap.aboutus.we bsites.description&x=9&y=6&resource=157740
Emap UK / Subscription Site: http://www.emapmagazines.co.uk/
this issue supposedly goes on sale next Monday. The mock up cover seems like it could be a hint if theyre showing it to subscribees or whatever IMO... it could also be a cruel joke - I dunno. As for the demo disc? In last months issue an overwhelming 96% of the readership voted for one - I just pray we get it now... those who want it should go there and tell em what an awesome idea it is. I've also said I'd happily pay more to get my hands on it...
Hope this helps!
Tom

Remain immortal in Zelda? Open thew last door in Metroid? I didn't even know there WAS last door. If I lived in the UK I'd buy this mag, regardless of the whole Silent Hill 3 thing.

The text on the cover seems to be placeholder text. Only the picture of SH3 and the logo are supposed to be final. I read that Edge magazine already reported rumours that SH3 was coming to the GameCube a while ago. Edge magazine were right about the GBASP too.

Well then....
Judging entirely from the picture presented, I have to say that I seriously believe this news is fake. The text on the magazine is just too crappy to even be placeholder... RPG better than Goldeneye? That's just stupid.
Although, I will say this. I had planned to get Silent Hill 3 for PC, but if it is indeed coming to GameCube, I am getting the GCN version, and I encourage you guys to do so too, as it will show Konami that we still love them, even though they hate us. It's really that simple.

It is possible that Nintendo's contract with Konami included more than just a remake of Metal Gear Solid. If MGS:TS is indeed a turning point in Nintendo and Konami's relationship, Silent Hill 3 would be a logical port. I'm not saying this isall true, just to keep an open mind, which pretty much everyone is already doing. I'd love to see Silent Hill 3 on the Cube even though I own a PS2 because I really think it would help bring over more of Konami's fan base and improve Nintendo's image a bit.

Mouse Clicker, Resident Evil on GameCube actually sold more than Silent Hill 2 on PS2 and Xbox combined. It would indeed be a logical game to port over. I am still very much uncertain whether it's coming or not, but I highly doubt that Konami could just spring it on us without anyone noticing. There's rumors floating around about everything being on every different system. I haven't heard a peep about Silent Hill before now.
Title: Silent Hill 3 on Gamecube?!
Post by: mouse_clicker on June 29, 2003, 11:17:18 AM
Really? I didn't know that. Is that because Silent Hill 2 sold poorly or because Resident Evil sold well on the Gamecube? I hope it's the latter.

I think it was a little of both. My source on that was CVXFreak on GameFAQs though I think, so I am not 100% on the reliability of it. He just seemed pretty sure to me. He was a little mystified on why Silent Hill 2 hadn't come to GameCube.
Title: Silent Hill 3 on Gamecube?!
Post by: mouse_clicker on June 29, 2003, 11:40:00 AM
Well, you could say that Konami should port SH 2 or 3 to the Cube since it's been shown we do like survival horror games, but you can also say Konami's been holding off because they know Silent Hill can't compete directly with Resident Evil and since Resident Evil is currently exclusive to one console, they'll build up Silent Hill on the other 2 consoles.

Silent hill is some seriously scary stuff. I think it might be even scarier than Eternal Darkness.
I never got around to playing the second one, and i could never finish the first one (Got to the school, with those scary crying kids trying to eat your legs...*shivers*) But, I might pick it up if it is indeed coming out for gamecube. Why would it be announced on that magazine? and not a japanese/american one? Seems kinda strange to me, considering I'm pretty sure that we would be getting it first regardless, and we would want to know about it first and whatnot *hype sells*
No matter, i hope its true.
the placeholder text was just stupid though O_o, should have at least been believable.

There are plenty of things announced in Europe. GBA SP for one. And a European magazine (Edge) had the scoop on that. GBA as well I think... I might be wrong there though I'm not sure. I hope its true myself... I've emailed them a few times, and hopefully I'll get a reply as soon as the working week starts.

I hope this isn't a cheap and nasty fake. I'd love to see Konami finally port something really decent to GameCube. I'd get this, if Silent Hill 3 wasn't already out on PS2 in PAL territories
Silent Hill has ALWAYS been been better than Resident Evil, in my opinion. It doesn't focus on rubbish like collecting colourful keys, or blowing away the same looking zombie 400 times with stupid over the top rocket launchers and crap. NO. It's a pure horror game.
Silent Hill 2 had me fearing every damn step I took. You could ALWAYS hear strange distorted growls and the dull thumping of machinery in the background. Plus the game is PITCH DARK. It had disgusting scenes, like demon sex... Nothing seemed real, the characters were never what they seemed. Monsters would appear out of the darkness, spiders would fill the rooms, hell, the main character started to go insane (Not like ED insane )... It was fan-bloody-tastic.
We need SH2 and 3 on GC. NOW

Since when was Eternal Darkness scary? There were maybe 1 or 2 jumpy parts, but it's not supposed to make you scared, like Silent Hill or Resident Evil.

Edge rules! NOM sucks. But if they would include the demo disc, they will be forever embraced. This is your opportunity to do it right now NOM, don't screw it up!
Oh and possible Silent Hill? Yippee!

Well, it was a psychological thriller. Whereas other games like RE rely on B-rate movie type scares by having stuff jump out at unexpected moments, ED tries to mess with your mind. If a player can stop screwing around with the game and let it draw the player in, it can have a greater effect, much like movies can do. A sad movie can get the viewer to cry if it can pull them in, but if they joke around and throw popcorn at people, it doesn't have its effect. The same goes with ED.

I doubt that this is real. THis is a euro mag? Then why does it have the US ESRB on the Demo disc? Surely they have a different rating system.
Oh, and Konami's too stupid to make a smart decision like that.

Sorry lads, this is an utter fake. The mags editor, or someone commented on it. Silent Hill 3 isn't on GameCube, they just thought it'd be hilarious to make people think it is. Plus the promise of the US demo disc is a big fat lie. They just wanted to see how much Nintendo fans in Europe would pay for the inclusion of a demo. It's not coming out with next months issue.
These guys sure know how to make me laugh -________-
