Nintendo Showed off the first footage of Splatoon's single campaign mode during a trailer in Wednesday's direct.

In the Campaign mode, players will control a squid character in a 3D action platforming adventure which puts the protagonist squids up against their octopus nemeses.

Single player mode reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy of all things, with it's colourful palette and ephasis on 3d platforming.

I love art design of this game so much.

I was actually thinking before the direct about what it would take to get me interested in this game. I figured there would be some token campaign that would amount to a bareboned series of challenges against bots, but that trailer got my attention. Iwata's re-emphasis that this is a 4v4 focused title leaves me wary, but it looks like they went put more oomph into the single player than I was expecting.
