Title: Super Smash Bros. Demo to Be Released in North America on September 19
Post by: CurtDogg on September 12, 2014, 06:20:00 AM

Club Nintendo Platinum members also getting the demo early.

The demo for Super Smash. Bros. for Nintendo 3DS demo will be hitting the North American eShop on September 19th, as revealed on the Nintendo Treehouse live stream.

Acknowledging that the Japanese demo has already been released, the Treehouse crew stated that they didn't want Western audiences to wait until just before the game releases for the demo to drop. For that reason, the demo will be going up on the North American eShop two weeks before the game's release on October 3rd.

Select Club Nintendo Platinum members will also be getting four demo codes each later today, according to the Treehouse stream.

I am buying the game on launch day anyways, but I will download the demo so I can finally play it for the first time. I'm assuming it will have a play limit though like most eShop demos -_-

Nah. Apparently, it's an unlimited play demo. I know, I'm shocked too.

So is it Club Nintendo members who have hit platinum during this current cycle, or platinum from the year that just ended?

It's if you made Platinum last year.

I didn't make Platinum this year, though I doubt I would have been one of the people selected anyways.

Seriously Nintendo, stop with the fucking demo lotteries, this is ridiculous, especially with a Platinum Requirement.

Either give it to everyone who got platinum, (would be a nice little perk to get platinum IMO) or don't have that be a requirement at all.

Oh and fix that fucking website.

I mean, if you want to send me one of those extra codes, I'll, like, give you an Internet high five.

So Nintendo considers two weeks prior to release as early for a demo?  That seems pretty close to release to me.

While I only have a 3DS so getting this SSB would in theory make sense, I figure the Wii U version will be the "real" one so I almost want to wait until a future Wii U purchase and get that version.  I'm really not sure how SSB will feel on a portable so I'm curious to try the demo and see for myself.

I'm more curious to see how the game feels in comparison to Brawl.

Sorry, Adrock. my friends all called them pretty quick.

As for you, Ian, it feels pretty good so far. it feels a lot like playing on the original Classic Controller. the fact that I can't turn off Up-jump is annoying me, but I'm not having move accuracy issues like some are.

fall speed and movement is faster, but attack lag still feels brawl-ish. a lot of individual attacks that didn't feel so great in brawl feel better overall, but there are some things that are still complete garbage and you'd never want to use. but yeah. unless For glory has a capcom style 'turbo' speed that you can play matches at, melee guys are gonna snub on it. I still think it feels silky smooth and amazing, and it's a real amazing sight to see it going at 60 FPS with 3D on with all the crazy **** going on.

Oh, I was joking. With the way people are bartering for these codes on neogaf, I'd have to do better than an "Internet high five." I'll just download the demo next Friday. Apparently, Nintendo is still sending out those emails. A Facebook friend's friend just said she got her email a couple minutes ago.

This is better than the internet high five I originally offered. Merci beaucoup.

I got Platinum last year but wasn't subscribed to the emails until I heard about this. The website isn't working super well with all the traffic they must be getting but I think I turned on email notifications around 10 (EST) anybody know if these were still being sent out then/were likely to be sent out to late adopters of the newsletter?

Got the demo. Took forever to download, but having a blast. Been feeling some discomfort though.

The gameplay is a lot of fun, but I will admit I'm somewhat disappointed in the demo. We get one mode, 5 characters (only two of them new) and one stage. You can't even mess with settings or the control scheme. At the very least, Nintendo could have given us a single smash run stage. It is the key difference between the Wii U and 3DS version. But, like I said, gameplay is fun. If you've ever liked smash bros, you'll like this.

So is the only difference between the two demos is that the Club Nintendo one has unlimited uses? If so, seems kind of pointless to do this.

I probably shouldn't be surprised, but it's crazy that people are paying money on places like eBay for this free demo.

I wonder if you can download both the unlimited and the limited demo... :D

I would assume so, they do have different names. I'm probably going to as well.
