Title: Drug Tests, and other things.
Post by: Grey Ninja on June 26, 2003, 03:01:27 PM
Woo hoo!!!  I finally got a really good job offer.    I got a job as a computer person at an oil company, and I get all kinds of different benefits and a really good salary for 8 months.

The problem starts that I only get the job once I pass a drug and alcohol test....  I assume that if I don't show up drunk, I pass the alcohol test... but I am a little concerned about the drug test.  Does anyone know how long THC stays in your system in detectable amounts?  It's kind of embarrassing to be a Canadian and not know that, but I have never had to take a drug test before, and to tell the truth, it kind of took me by surprise.

I really can't wait for this job... the only problem is that it doesn't start until Sep. 11, and I have to fend for myself in the meantime.  I guess I am not taking classes next semester, which I have mixed feelings about.  I was looking forward to my Japanese, Computer Architecture, and Programming Languages classes... but I was dreading the inevitable File Systems class...  I guess I can teach myself assembly, and some more game programming in my free time for the year, but I am going to kind of miss school in the meantime.

It seems that I did manage to get a job at a convenience store/bottle depot close to where I live though for the summer though, so hopefully I can go off my "Can't afford to eat anything but ramen" diet pretty soon.    It also seems that I have a good chance at landing a job at a pizza place opening up soon, so I might work 2 jobs for the rest of the summer.

Anyways, I am quite pleased with recent events, and I thought I would ask about the THC thing, and generally glow about it here.

Is THC the same thing as THC9 ?
Title: Drug Tests, and other things.
Post by: Grey Ninja on June 26, 2003, 03:38:17 PM
Well, THC stands for Tetrahydrocannabinol.  The C word is really the key to figuring out what it is.

Well, I am not 100% on this, but I THINK that they are the same thing...

Well THC9 is a substance found it marijuana ( i have no clue how to spell it  ). Is that what your talking about ?  Cause if it is ... we learned that it stays inside your body anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month .. sometimes longer

Phew... I should be pretty safe then.  I haven't had any in quite some time because I am so bloody broke.  *starts humming "What if God Smoked Cannabis?"

"Cannabinol" sounds a lot like cannabis sativa (i don't feel like checking the spelling...), the scientific name for marijuana if my memory holds true.

The 20-90 days estimate depends largely on your your fat level and metabolism. A lot of toxins like THC, nicotine, even pollutants you breathe in the air are stored in your body's fat. It's one of the reasons why people who stop smoking get the urge to smoke -- because the nicotine is still in their fat, slowly being released. i think the estimate is something like a day or two (that it stays in your body) for every percent body fat you have. Also, if you have a high metabolism, it'll get burned outta your system faster. i've got both a high metabolism and low body fat, so stuff gets flushed outta me pretty quickly, although the worst i do is an occasional cigarette.

i've heard of a THC level calculator program somewhere on the web if you're really paranoid and need some pseudo-arbitrary numbers. My advice would be to stay clean, excercise, and drink plenty of water (at least 2 quarts a day).  Unless you're at the wrong end (fat and low metabolism) of the scale, you should be fine by then.

Oh, and congrats on the job -- wish i could say the same. As long as i don't have to auction off my unopened copy of Steel Battalion, i'll be okay.

Nah, I think it's been like 3 months at least.  I am just sort of a paranoid sort about things like that.

I drink plenty of water, and most of my body fat (what little there was), has been stripped off recently due to starvation.    I also have a high metabolism, so I am sure I am clean as a whistle right now.  I might go and buy a bottle of Gin and some Sprite Ice later on though.    According to that list, I can clean up from that in under a day.

i could be considered a vegetarian, and i have a high metabolism, so i have pretty much zero fat, not that that's particularly healthy, but it is what it is. i also drink like a gallon of water a day.

Again with the gin and Sprite! No more alcohol for me until i get a job, or find a bum carrying a briefcase filled with millions in unmarked bills. Besides, i'm happy drinking obscene amounts of water. Keeps you full (good when you're poor because you don't eat so much) and it keeps muscles hydrated (good for working out).

*backs away*

uh, drugs?
who does drugs?
I dont.
why does one do drugs?
why does one know so much about drugs?

I am surprised.

But good luck there Grey Ninja. Hopefully you can get into it and finally gather enough bucks to get some more games!
Remember!
Games are more healthy than drugs! Haha.

Very much a meat-eater here, but I am of a very lean build.

Yeah well, I have been drooling over that idea for a LONG time, and I have just got to try it.  I should be getting money tomorrow, so I should be able to finance it at long last.    As for water drinking, I agree that it's good for filling you up, but as for keeping muscles hydrated... I don't get enough calories to be able to afford the energy costs of working out, and muscles take energy to maintain.    I would rather have some nice fat to hold me through tough times.

Hehe.  Games are plenty good.  But have you ever played games... ON WEED?  (Half Baked reference there...  )

But my Mom is going to send me some money, and she said she would send $100 extra for my birthday, with the suggestion I pick up a new hard drive to replace my dying current one.  I currently plan to use that money to either go see some strippers, buy a new game or two, or simply send it back as repayment on the pile of money I am already borrowing.

But my job pays REALLY well, and I could pay back my parents in full after 2 weeks of working it... so...

I watched COURT TV today and the trial / testimony of the Texas lady who hit the homeless man / Let him die slowly in her windshield for days and she testified about drug testing. She was a heavy drug user and she said 1 month / drink a lot of water to clear it out. She also mentioned cheating techniques like a small canister of clean urine close to your body ( to keep it at room temperature ). She also talked about a random drug test in which she used a drop of bleach to clear her urine... she said it worked.

How are you getting this THC in your body in the first place? Drug tests are there for a reason- to make sure you're not doing drugs, and if you're circumventing that process you could lose your job. I have heard almonds or something show up as marijuana on a drug test, though.

erm.... Drugs are bad mmmmkay?

I was just speaking, hypothetically, in case I ever did do drugs... not saying that I do, and not saying that I will... for sure.    Man, I never saw such a bunch of clean people in all my life.

No, thats poppy seeds. And you have to eat like pounds of it to show up, not just a poppy seed muffin. Anyway it takes anywhere from 1-3 months depending on your metabolism. Some facilities only detect 15% and above on your THC level, if its lower then 15 it shows up as 0, but you can still have it in your system. Anyway, I have gotton my THC level from a 70% to a 0 in four weeks so it all depends on how much water you drink, and how much salty and sugar products you eat. Of course getting my level from a 124% to 0 was inanse but thats a different story

Poppy seeds can show up as opiates like heroin, but you'd have to eat a lot of them. A lot of drug test facilities will give you a questionnaire which asks if you've eaten certain foods or taken medicines in order to rule out false positives. Common over the counter drugs like ibuprofen can screw with results too.

Edit:NintendoKid beat me to it. Just a thought, but i wonder if you can safely drink enough water to make the sample too diluted. Of course, at most it would buy you only a day, assuming that they send you to a walk-in facility.

I also think that you die after eating too many poppy seeds.  Or maybe I'm thinking of nutmeg.

OMG STRIPPERS?!!!  That's so wrong!!!

You can die from eating too much of anything. A lot of foods contain trace levels of otherwise nonlethal chemicals.

i've heard of people smoking nutmeg. Evidentally, you get a high from it, but it causes so many bad side effects like violent hallucinations, nausea, dizziness, and temporary loss of vision and hearing. It could probably kill you if you smoked too much of it due to the way it snuffs out oxygen to the brain.

Nutmeg in it's natural form is extremely lethal, I believe. I know unroasted cashews are poisonous, as well.

Grey Ninja- At the risk of soundy preachy, there's better ways to pass a drug test.

Erm... didn't know I would get this much of a response to such a little statement.    Last time I went, I won a raffle for a private dance, and I was quite happy with that.    I am trying to get ahold of my old roommate before going though, as she once said that she would go to the strip club with us at some point.  She hasn't emailed me back yet though, and we are both leaving town in a few weeks...

Meh.  I've heard it all.  Just don't start trying to run my life is all I'll say.    Man... first it's telling me not to swear... now people are telling me not to smoke, drink, watch naked girls, or do drugs... why not just get it all over with and tell me not to have fun?

You've got a point, but you're subject to the same exact thing since you're telling me what I can and cannot say to you. Aside from that, though, there's obviously no point in debating, so I won't get into it.

Joking, right. BTw, puny little game collection you got there. HERE'S a real collection, for a 15 year old at least. 2 games are missing from it, too, since IGN's little game list isn't very complete.

Meh.  You live at home, and I doubt your family is below the poverty line.    With me, it's an entirely different story.  To get my games, I pretty much have to choose whether I would like to eat or play games.    I know that my collection is a little small, but I have been broke my entire life, and my parents don't really have a whole lot of money either.
Title: Drug Tests, and other things.
Post by: mouse_clicker on June 29, 2003, 11:45:19 AM
I actually bought nearly all those games myself. I'll admit I've got some rich relatives who don't mind dropping some money on me come birthday or Christmas time, but that collection was substantially smaller before I got a job delivering papers last summer. My family definitely isn't at the poverty line, but my dad's *really* cheap and the most I'll get out my parents is maybe 2 GBA games a year.

Oh, and all those NES games came from a rental store that was phasing out their NES games for SNES games and were around a dollar apiece.

Wow your a rich little nerd arent ya Do you ever go outside? Seriously, I dont think I've known anyone with THAT many games. I'll update my list for everyone to see soon, just got to get my NES back.

Outside? But, there's PEOPLE outside. o_O

In all seriousness, though, I go out when I can, but like I said in another thread, the weather is always haywire in Kansas and going outside oftentimes isn't the best idea. I also spent several hours riding my bike in 100 degree weather last year delivering papers, too (made $220 a month, which is the main reason I have so many games). And I've seen people with larger collections- there's one 14 year old on IGN whose collection is at elast twice that of mine.

Kansas sounds like Arizona, except its about 60 degrees in the morning, then lets say about 200 in the afternoon. Then you got those unexpected monsoons that come outta no where, and cactus. I wish I can get a job delivering papers or something, theres no jobs out here gotta be atleast 15 so I gotta wait 5 more months.

My job ain't so bad, work 8 hours a day at $6.30 an hour, but I get to work in a freezer . But then I step out in the back and it hits like 110 degres. Airizona?? its not bad, no humidity. When it gets humid(like in florda), then its bad. My drug test was a salty stick. And Ive been eatin poppies like crazy.

And there's a lot of people who just add games to make themselves feel special. i'd post a list of mine, but there's way too many, and i refuse to be an advertisement for IGN. For fifteen, you're very fortunate to have so many games, and good ones might i add. i didn't get to really start my game collection until i was 18 and got my first real job.

Sosaying, i've got tons of games. The only people i know in real life who may have more are a couple who have at least 180 NES games, and several games for other systems. It doesn't hurt that they work at game stores. The three of us seem to share this odd collection trait, where we feel compelled to buy games we're even mildly interested in (especially on NES) if it's a good price, in hopes of actually playing it some day.
