Title: How much does equipment cost where you live?
Post by: Shorty McNostril on June 25, 2003, 03:57:48 PM
I live in Australia and I tell you that although nintendo stuff is half the price of the other two systems, it is still very expensive. I've seen in other topics that you mentioned prices for various peices of gaming. When i saw them i nearly had a heart attack. I costs $100 for a GBP, $70-80 for a decent GBA game. I was just wondering what countries you people are from and how much Nintedo's, games etc are in your area?

Here in Canada it costs about $80-100 Canadian for new console games with tax. GC came out at $299 while PS2 and Xbox were in the $500 range.

$80 to $100? i dont think that ever payed that much for a gamecube game, and thats in BC with 14.5% tax on top. I think the most expensive game i ever bought was skies of arcadia, and that was about $75 with tax included. my only option for buying games is walmart, but for the most part i notice they seem to be cheaper then most stores.

You should considering buying used stuff from Ebay, you'll save TONS of money.
Oh wait, can you only play PAL versions in Australia? (No NTSC?)

and no, the prices shorty quoted are in australian, not US, our prices are relatively competative to US prices, its based on a $1au buys 50cents US average, so what ever the US price is its doubled for the australian price, so a new game is $100 and in theory we are paying the same as the americans, but at the moment $1au buys about 67 us cents, so we are getting a bit screwed at the moment, BUT its a good time to import

Where I live (México), you have to pay around 80 to 100 USD for a game, and you know what?, that's not the worst....GameCube and Xbox both have the same price, about 350 USD
Man, I hate Gamela!!!!

Sorry about that, the prices I mentioned are Aussie dollars. I'm not to sure of what that is in American dollars though. But Alas, that is the price that we have to pay for a session of good quality gaming. I'll tell you some more. The GCN is about $200-300 depending where you buy it, Memory card 59's are around $30-$35. 251's are about $50-60. It sounds like in your countries that the consoles are more expensive than ours but everything else is half the price.
