What's the chance the U.S. will get nes remix 1 and 2 on a disc as Japan got?
Oh wow, Japan got a retail release of the Remix games, combined on one disc? Awesome! I'd buy if it were released here in that format, and would much rather have the games packaged that way than as digital offerings.
(Good news: I just grabbed the first Remix game as a Club Nintendo platinum reward. That would end up being a complete waste if a retail version does come out... so doesn't that mean it has to happen?)

I sure hope so. I've been holding out.

Would have been a great Platinum reward for Club Nintendo this year...

If anything, it'd be a GameStop exclusive.

I guess it's still possible, but considering how Nintendo's been more upfront lately, I think it would have been announced by now if it were going to happen.
It makes me wonder if the eShop is more popular in the US than Japan, and disc games sell better in Japan.

Nintendo took their time announcing the retail release of Wii Sports Club so the same thing could happen here though Wii Sports Club casts a wider net than NES Remix. I wouldn't count it out, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

I'd just like them to do a bundle on the e-shop with a (slight) discount. That's what I've been holding out for.

Wasn't there a special recently where you got a discount on 2 if you bought 1, or maybe the reverse?

Seems like a waste of a disc. They needs more eShop-only things like this that are easier to distribute and not risk losing production money on.

Japan isn't as big on DDL as the West. It's the same reason several PSN titles also received disc releases in Japan while remain digital only in the West.

Well I guess it makes sense in Japan then. I just see stuff like this as something you would just keep on the system all the time so you don't have to go through the "hassle" of popping in a disc for a couple of minutes of play time. It might not be a huge risk, but I'm sure if they published say 150,000 discs in the US and only sold 5,000 (or anything less than a vast majority) it would upset those who really matter to Nintendo, the fans shareholders.

So apparently this is happening in North America sometime over the holidays. Great news... unless you picked NES Remix as your Club Nintendo platinum reward.
So yeah, as mentioned in my earlier post the timing of this announcement is EXACTLY what I expect from Nintendo. Good job guys: not only have you left me dissatisfied with the Club Nintendo "exclusive reward" for being a good customer, but you've managed to kill any interest I have in a (relatively rare) retail Wii U release at the same time. *slow clap*

I might be interested in the retail release. I still need to pick my platinum prize.

Yeah **** Nintendo for giving me something for free. How dare they offer a retail disc of a game you gave away for FREE.
Totally missing the point. I'll give benefit of the doubt and assume you are a troll, rather than bother to explain why the timing of this announcement is lousy with respect to Club Nintendo prizes.
People who are are excited about the release should just say so instead of bitching towards people who are disappointed with how NoA handled things. I'm allowed to have an opinion just like you are. Unlike you, my opinion wasn't attacking others.

Yeah everyone can have an opinion, but that doesn't shield you from being criticized for said opinion.
So Nintendo gives out NES Remix as prize to loyal gamers and then announces a retail package that only applies to people that don't want to download it or can't. And somehow in your head they dropped the ball, I don't see it that way and you are just being an entitled prima donna.

Well son of a bean! I did the same thing you did, so I know how you feel.
Oh well, at least the DDP points put me over the threshold of another $5.

In retrospect, I should've done the same thing. Earthbound 3 on GBA didn't really do it for me - I played through about 90% and then just stopped because I didn't care - but getting a Wii U-exclusive VC game, and a classic one at that, would've been the safer bet.
Unfortunately I'm neither savvy or good-looking... :(

Just read on Nintendolife that the disc will be out in North America for the holidays..oh yah..wanted so badly to download the first game but patiently waited once Japan got the 2 game disc

If I had gotten platinum, and had chose NES Remix (which is exactly what I would have gotten), and then Nintendo decided "Hey, we are gonna release a combo retail package", I would certainly be a little annoyed, because I could have chosen something else and waited for the 2 pack of NES remix instead of having the 1st game twice.
Is the 2nd game available separately on the eShop or retail? If not, then I agree w/ ejamer that Nintendo is just fumbling the easy stuff that they should be getting right, but always find a way to screw up.

NES Remix 2 is available on the eshop separately. The retail combo is pretty much just for people, such as myself, who prefer physical copies of games. I'm not entirely sold on this either way, but I'm glad Wii Sports Club has a retail release.

I'll just wait for the combo disc to hit the bargain bin.
I personally wouldn't pay more than $15 for both, so if they gave me the 1st for free, that would've helped.

I always suspected as much about you! I still have a working cartridge or else I would have grabbed that too. It isn't the kind of game for everyone, but hopefully you'll enjoy its charms.

I have a (thus far) working Earthbound cartridge as well. It won't always work so this was as good a time as any to download the game due to the cost of $0.

This news is fine by me, whenever I do eventually pick up a Wii U I would prefer to have these types of games on disc over digital anyways.

Ah, I wonder if I knew that and forgot about it. Are you a fan, or is it more just an "okay" game for you?

I really liked Earthbound, but I didn't finish it. I think I was pretty close to the end. I'm not sure why I stopped playing it. Now that I have the download, I should pick it back up again.
