Rumors on the Internet today suggest that Acclaim's new CEO has decided to completely drop support for Nintendo systems. The rumors say that upcoming games like XGRA and Legends of Wrestling III will be finished for GameCube, but no new projects will be started for the system.
We contacted Acclaim about the rumor. They say that quotes in the rumor have been taken out of context, and that the publisher is not actually dropping GameCube or GBA support. Rather, in contrast to their former policy of releasing every title on every system, Acclaim will now evaluate each title and decide which system(s) it best fits. This new publishing strategy goes for GameCube, GBA, PS2, and Xbox. Acclaim is NOT dropping support for Nintendo systems, although it's entirely possible that GameCube will see fewer of the company's games than it previously has.
Acclaim also confirmed that all of the currently announced GameCube titles will be completed and released (barring any specific, unrelated cancellations).

Oh well, they're still an iffy developer. I still kinda stand by what I originally said about them. Theres only like a trickle of games that they make are quality.

This still bodes bad for Nintendo, as it will stick the stigma of a "kiddie" console and release its more ambitious projects to other platfroms.
This seems to be kind of a waltz. A game comes out from a so-so 3rd party, it does pitiful sales on Gamecube but decent to maybe excellent on other platforms, and the so-so company says "We're dropping support because it doesn't sell."
Any why? Because we're too used to good 1st party, and 2nd party collaborations, and there's not enough of them (Because they take their time to make them excellent) and when so-so 3rd part comes out with games, we just hold our noses because it stinks so bad.
Of course this doesn't happen ALL the time (Burnout 2 and Def Jam Vendetta is an example) but more often than not. And maybe its not all the devolopers fault, Publishers can crack the bullwhip to get the game out in time, resulting in rushed ports. What a dilliema indeed...

God that pisses me off- no store within 50 miles of where I live in Kansas has a copy of Burnout 2 for the Gamecube, and the game was released officially months ago. Even when I took a trip to Atlanta to see my relatives, no game store had any copies. I've pretty much given up, now.

If Nintendo changes anything in the future generation, all I ask is the ability to play the games I want to play, and buy the games I want to buy. Is that too much to ask?
