Title: Xbox One selling worse than Wii U?
Post by: tendoboy1984 on March 29, 2014, 02:59:11 PM
I've been reading rumors that the Xbox One is selling worse than the Wii U. If that's true, then how is it getting more third-party support than Nintendo? Industry bias confirmed?

I doubt this is true, but if it is the Xbox One is getting more support for the same reason the PS3 got more support than the Wii despite lower sales: it's fairly trivial to port between PS4 and Xbox One, and much less so for Wii U.

Even if it is true, like insanolord pointed out there is the closer technology in the two but also a lot of the games that are getting released now were already in development before the console launched so nobody could predict early sales. Wii U had a good amount of early investment too and it dropped off once sales did, so right now Xbox One has better support but that could change. Also a lot of these franchises were successful on past Xbox consoles whereas they were not successful on past Nintendo console so once again it's different markets. if Nintendo wants to be on equal ground as everybody else they have to make a console that is on equal grounds as everybody else and they have to take the lead on pushing their ideas. GameCube has comparable CPU/GPU but it lacked in other areas namely lack of DVD and lack of online, two factors that caused a lot of games to get left out that otherwise would have been on the system. You can't just make a product that is comparable in one area but weaker in others and expect it to get 1:1 support. Also Microsoft courts developers whereas Nintendo just expect them to release games on their machine just for the hell of it.
