Title: NWR Forumers List Love. GBA Titles! (Now with jazz hands)
Post by: Khushrenada on March 26, 2014, 06:59:04 PM
Is there anything the users of the NWR forums love more than lists? Besides complaining about the Wii U or giving advice on how the Wii U can turn it around or complaining about 3rd parties or just complaining in general obviously.

The answer is no! Yes? Right? Maybe?

Well, whatever the answer, just play along and participate anyways. So, with GBA titles now coming into the VC pipeline, here's a chance to once again make some lists of what is good gaming wise for the GBA.

What kind of lists? Well, first off, what are the top 10 games you would like to see released for the system. They can be games you already own, games you want to try for the first time or games that were only released in Japan. Whatever 10 games you would pretty much buy when they appear on the VC, list 'em!

The second list would be your top 10 ranking of what games you think everyone should buy and play for the GBA. If both lists are the same, that's ok. Just say so.

After 2 weeks, I'll tabulate the results and give out the rankings of the ultimate wish list and top forum recommended games. And unlike some people who won't be named Insanolord (How'd that get there?)), you know I'll tabulate everything.

Now for me, my wish list would consist of titles I don't have in any format, physical or digital. They would be:

1. Mother 3
2. Gunstar Super Heroes
3. Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge
4. Banjo-Pilot
5. Rhythm Tengoku
6. Polarium Advance
7. Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword
8. Legendary Starfy 1
9. Legendary Starfy 2
10. Legendary Starfy 3

Obviously, I'd hope that the Japan only titles would be translated for a NA release. With Earthbound finally getting released, I believe anything is now possible.

As for the games, I would recommend playing for the system:

1. Metroid: Zero Mission.
2. Metroid Fusion
3. Warioware: Twisted
4. Drill Dozer
5. Advance Wars
6. Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
7. Warioware, Inc: Mega Microgames
8. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
9. Pokémon: LeafGreen/FireRed
10. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

Of course, if I played a few more GBA games I've got, I could see myself bumping a few of these games off. I feel my top 7 listing is pretty solid and those games have a good chance of hanging around more. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror is alright to play through once. I played it again with the Ambassador program and I don't think it is aging well. It's not as fun as other Kirby games that have come before and after it. It's Squeak Squad level not Dream Land levels.

So, what say you?

Sounds like fun! I'll play along. Though, truth be told, there are only two specific titles on my VC wishlist:

1. Ninja Five-O
2. Mother 3

A list of games I've enjoyed, and maybe you will too:

1. Metroid: Zero Mission
2. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
3. Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
5. Advance Wars
6. Metroid Fusion
7. Harmony of Dissonance
8. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
9. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong
10. Sonic Advance

Before I make a full list I'm going to throw this one in.

They tried to do this game physical but that didn't work for obvious reasons.  As a GBA game its pretty cool game.  I wish there was a 3/DS or WiiU version because the concept could benefit from the second touch screen.

The list Nintendo already posted contains all solid titles I'd recommend.

But to expand, I'll add

Tomato Adventure
Minish Cap
Pokemon LeafGreen
DK: King of Swing
WarioWare: Twisted

I'm sure the first and last are out of the running for a VC release. Maybe the middle as well.

I don't really buy VC games so I don't have a wish list, but here are ten GBA games that I like which are worth checking out for anyone interested, in no particular order:

Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga
Advance Wars
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Final Fantasy I & II
Final Fantasy V
Sword of Mana
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Wario Land 4
Game and Watch Gallery 4

I am half hoping that we get a re-release trilogy of the GBA fire Emblem titles and through this we get the Japan only title.

I doubt it.  Translation work wouldn't be worth it.

They did it for the original game when they remade it for the DS. So there is a precedent and Nintendo does love to re-release/milk their older titles.

Half hope seems the appropriate level of hope so as I don't feel disappointed when it doesn't happen. Plus Ephraim is still my favorite lord in the series as the only lance wielding leder. We need more variety in FE leader's weapons. I was hopeful that the custom 'tactician' unit in Awakening would have weapon options. Maybe we'll get more choices in the next title.

I'm fairly sure that a DS game has a higher potential return on investment than a Virtual Console game but crazier has happened.

I would be happy with it either way. Just get me the game!
