Title: NFRIT 1st Round: Rhythm Heaven Fever (4) v Boom Blox (5)
Post by: Shaymin on March 21, 2014, 10:00:42 PM
The nominations have been made, and now it's time for you to decide the most underrated game in the 15 year history of Nintendo World Report! Votes will be open for 3 days, so cast your vote and make your voice heard in the comments.
In the Parts Unknown region, it's #4 seed Rhythm Heaven Fever v #5 seed Boom Blox.
Rhythm Heaven Fever: The name is appropriate, since some of the levels feel like a fever dream. As the first Rhythm Heaven game on a home console, this 2012 Wii release makes you confront the fact that yes, people will see you building robots or playing golf to a beat – but the game's so fun that you really won't care.
vs
Boom Blox: The involvement of Steven Speilberg may have been minimal, but the fun you'll have with Boom Blox is immeasurable. The first half of 2008 had so many great games for Wii, but Boom Blox stood out for its extremely accurate physics and puzzle gameplay not seen anywhere before, or since. Well, except for the Bash Party sequel.

Boom Blox or bust. Great party game, great drinking game, great concept.
Pity we aren't getting any more titles in the series. A Wii U version could be fun.

Rhythm Heaven and WarioWare series make SPD my favourite Nintendo studio.
Great music, hard as balls, super quirky -- the videogames as they should be.

Boom Blox was okay, but Rhythm Haven Fever was pretty awesome.

This is the toughest match-up for me. Both really great games. I think I am leaning toward Boom Blox as one of the ones that best showcased the Wii. Both excellent games, though.

Loved Boom Blox. It was a game that happened during EA's "let's try things out" phase. That along with Henry Hatsworth were awesome titles.

Apparently the "let's try things out" phase was terrible for EA's bottom line. A real shame, because they put out some fantastic games (Boom Blox included) over the span of a few years.

I blame Mirrors Edge and the evil of "annualized franchises" for the decline of EA's creative streak.

All aboard the Boom Blox train. It's going to knock over all competitors. You see what I did there? If so, please look away and try to forget it. It was rather embarassing for me and I'd hoped that nobody would notice it.

NWR, I love you! We just seem to have the same favorite gaming choices. Another great victory.
