Welcome, foolish mortals, to episode 109 of Connectivity. We've put together a delightful selection of segments for you this week. Starting off, Neal and Scott (AKA the T.W.I.N. Twins) get together for This Week in Nintendo.

Following that, Neal, Zach, and Tyler go deep on Batman: Arkham Origins & its 3DS sibling, Blackgate. Swear to them!

Complaint how Batman games are stuck in status quo and are always doing the same and the same again and again can also be applied to everything else bat-related, starting from comics of course.

Nothing ever changes. And that's how hero's journey simply loses impact -- what's the point if hero's efforts didn't amount to anything in the end? Where's "this changes everything?" point here?

That's what i like in Superman and Spiderman titles. Even if i don't read Marvel much, i constantly hear about what's going in with Spidey. There was some serious, grave **** happening there, constantly. And it's always been that way. One day in 70s his girlfriend dies, the other day in 00s he removes his mask on national TV. Stuff like that.

I played and enjoyed Arkham Asylum, but it just felt like it tried so hard to be macho and cool. I'm totally okay with a low-brow entertainment here and there, but designs are kinda offputting.

Food analogy works great. Arkham games are totally fast food tier. Which is fine.

azeke - as a person who follows comics to a degree, I think that assessment of Batman being stale and Spidey/Supes being the opposite is an exaggeration. All three have had their crazy bonkers moments, and all three have had their stale stretches. Spidey just happens to be going through a ridiculous, insane thing right now (Doc Ock in Spidey's body WTF?!?) and Supes was a little bit reinvented in The New 52. Batman's had crazy stuff happen. Bruce Wayne died and Dick Grayson (Robin) was Batman for a while. Batman had a legit son for a few years, too!

But yea, Arkham games have become stale. I won't argue that.

Several days later, and I'm still not seeing this in my iTunes feed, either. :(    :'(

But at the same time, everything is ALWAYS walked back to status quo. Dock Ock in Spider-Man's body is shocking because it seems to be sticking. But don't worry; Peter Parker will be back. And Batman was never dead. In fact, that storyline was SO EFFING STUPID that it didn't even make any SENSE in the end. I remember that DC once said that you can bring anyone back except Jason Todd, because that really WAS a big watershed moment for Batman's development as a character.

So they brought Jason Todd back.
