Not a Marvel vs. DC thread lets not go there.
I will share my Marvel favorites though just to be nice.
I prefer the X-Men from before the last Age of Apocalypse which really killed all things X-Men for me. I hate Wolverine and I can't stand how popular that douche is. The coolest X-Men are clearly Cyclops, Shadow Cat, Iceman, The Beast, Phoenix, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Gambit, all others are useless.
other Marvel books/characters I think are cool
Spider-Man, but I stopped reading during the clone **** and never looked back.
Transformers G1, it was a little bumpy for a while but it picked up by the end. Then they let go of the license.
Fantastic Four, the only super hero group in the Marvel universe not made up of Xavier followers that I like.
All other comics worth reading are neither Marvel nor DC so there.
DC gets big points for Batman though, all incarnations of the Dark Knight rock so no complaints there. Iron Man is a doofus, Hulk is lame, Ghost Rider is just a knock off of that other guy, Avengers is their dumping ground for worthless heroes who can't hold a book together on their own. captain America is about fifty years out of touch, and what else is there... Thor, a cheap, watered down imitation of a really classic mythological character whose stories are timeless?
Obviously these are my opinions but feel free to take them as facts, or guidelines or just to disagree if you wish.

Um gay superheros: Superman Aquamen Wonderwoman and basically all D.C heros!
You do realize that Superman married Lois Land and Aquaman married Mera and had a child. Not the best examples to be calling gay. Wonder woman, on the other hand..... island of nothing but women...... let's say maybe. Although in the new 52, she and Superman are a couple so whatev's.

Marvel is now owned by Disney. DC wins by default.
I will say I do like rogue as a character...

Disney also owns Star Wars does that mean Star Trek is automatically better by default now? DC is owned my Time Warner how is that at all better than Disney? In what universe is Warner better than Disney?

She's had boyfriends!
Though, it'd be perfectly fine if she was gay.

Follow up, let's not forget that it was Marvel Comics who brought us this:

I think Aquaman's hook-hand is well established. And one shitty game doesn't dictate a hero's reputation. Personally, I've liked what I've read in the New 52 Aquaman. You should check it out.

My favorite DC hero besides Batman obviously, was always Hawkman. If basing a super heroes reputation on their video games X-Men had a pretty shitty game on NES and Spider-Man had a really shitty game on Atari and this is coming from an Atari fan who even likes E.T.

How would you be able to tell? Does a Skrull pop up in both?
Samus in spider-ball mode climbing up Stark Tower. Keep it subtle.
But the Metroid series doesn't take place near Earth. . .
Did I just get trolled? :/

I would argue that it could quite possibly be, but not during the life time of any current Avenger. Perhaps during Franklin Richards's time. So, I guess many, many years in to the future, it would work.

what about Star Wars discussion would that be okay by you? It was published by Marvel before being published by Dark Horse. DC has published Star Trek and JJ Abrams who is in charge of reviving Star Trek is also in charge of reviving Star Wars. Also Transformers once published by Marvel tied into Doctor Who which has been published by DC and there was the (in)famous Marvel vs. DC so in reality if one is going to discuss Marvel they pretty much by extension would also be talking about DC in a round about way anyways. Not to mention Image was founded by ex-Marvel employees who published Spawn which also crossed over with Batman... Anyway you slice it Marvel and DC are in separable...

Its probably still the best super hero animated series done thus far. The only things that have gotten close were Young Justice and Avengers: Earth's mightiest
I'd say if you can watch the universe in order.
Batman the Animated series->Superman the animated series->Justice league->Static Shock->Justice league Unlimited->Batman Beyond
But yeah Justice league is awesome but it doesn't get good until Justice League unlimited.

It's pretty cool. Villains also got make overs for the New 52, good way to see which are good, which are samey, and which reminds us of the many missteps of the New 52.

Basically, this kid is the son of a Superman-like figure and eventually gets powers of his own. He then goes crime-fighting with all the trails and tribulations of someone who's new at this but is stil Invincible.

Didn't say Superman. I said a Superman-like figure. You can think of as more like. . .The Sentry? But sane? I guess?
But it's like in Irredeemable where The Plutonian is a "Superman-like figure".
Title: Re: The Marvel fanclub

Sentry would when in a fight aganist superman! Even if he did beat him he'd turn into the void and kill everything! Marvel Vs DC... Marvel would kick ass!

You don't read comics do you. While the new 52 has brought power levels down to heroes being younger the Prime DCU with the big 7in their late 30s are usually uber powerful compared to any of the Marvel Heroes.
But yeah Invincble is awesome recently read through the first 105 issues so far. So basiclly ts about this kid named mark grayson who finds out his dad in Omniman the world's version of superman. So its like spider-man meets superman tone wise.
Infinty Part 2 is pretty aswesome. The AVengers and the galaxy council got bitch slapped by builder forces last issue, and they what can only be considered a follow victory. Mean while on Earth Thanos Forces have started the Invasion taking out Sword, and most of the Illumanti. Only ones standing so far are Iron Man/Mr.Fantastic in new york, The Ihumans who have been giving an Ulatiamuim, and The Black Panther who was like ya'll straight not coming into Wakanda.
Still Forever Evil and Villians month has been much cooler imo.

Yeah they did the whole Marvel VS DC thing already, that was pretty ugly. Marvel had some good books but ever since their movies took off the comics have taken a back seat to their media stuff. DC on the other hand is the total opposite, their movies are still for the most part **** or hit and miss but their comics have gotten so much better.

Marvel's spent the past several years turning all their heroes into unlikeable douchebags. Because "realistic, yo!"

Title: Re: The Marvel fanclub
Post by: MetalMario2 on September 30, 2013, 02:49:54 PM
Because Spider-Man isn't "relatable" unless his life is a living hell. Now that he's literally burning in hell, he's that much more "relatable".
Relatable, yo!

I'm glad DC villians month is over with. I burned out of it by week 2 and only picked up what I enjoyed. In recent new Batman #24 may be my favorite comic of the year thus far. From start to finish its amazing and does a good job at adapting Batman's first apperance.
In Marvel new Infinty is boring as hell. I won't call Hickman a hack but his writing its pretentious and is so obsessed with over narration, and to much into its big ideas. Plus the sroty telling is disjointed with the main tale being split between three books.
All new X-men was cool and its intresting that Wolverine doesn't have a healing factor in any of the books now.
Title: Re: The Marvel fanclub

It's made him pretty weak now that he has no healing factor... Hopefully he gets it back somehow, otherwise every bad guy going to wipe the floor with him!

I've been doing more backlogging. Just read through Spider-Man from the fallout of "3" and just got up to Spider Island. Great stuff. I love this Peter Parker: he's a genius scientist, he's on two teams, has real life issues (work/life/love balance). Too bad he has to die in the end.

Pretty sure the plan in to Kill Wolverine sometme next year. Plus Wolverine without his healing factor is pretty compelling becuase he can't just go Berserk or use his claws.
The first annoucment of NYCC is a a new weekly Batman Book called Batman Eternal. (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e2EOovmqqCc/UlavnjSPhFI/AAAAAAAARE8/u7lljhEZfcQ/s1600/1381408021000-BM-WK-Cv1-color-rev2-1-.jpg)
The book will be about pushing Batman and his allies forward in the DCU. The showrunner is Scott Snyder and and were going to see Tim Seely, Ray Fwakes, James Tynion, and John Layman on the book with Jason Fabok being the main artist.
Also Detective Comics #27 will be a special issue with stories by Paul Dini, Brad Meltzer, Gregg Hurwitz and Peter Tomasi, and frank Miller.

Marvel still makes great comics. Hell popular opinion is they make better comics than DC. Rally its up to what you want in your Universe. Currently Marvel is much better at Cosmic stories while DC has a better magic Universe fleshed out. Each publisher also has thier books sorted into lines to some extent.
DC has Justice League Superman Batman Green Lantern Dark Edge Batman
Marvel has Avengers Xmen Spiderman Ultimate Cosmic
Marvel announced a ton of books at comic-con though X-factor (http://www.comicbookresources.com/assets/images/articles/1381430830.jpg) Avengers's World (http://i.newsarama.com/images/i/000/115/033/original/Avengers-World-001-John-Cassaday-Cover.jpg)
Loki Agent of Asgard (http://i.newsarama.com/images/i/000/115/049/original/Loki_Agent-of-Asgard-Frank-Cho-Variant-Cover.jpg?1381499110)
Plus announced some new crossovers and tie in's to the Inhumanity event.

Eh probably not anytime soon, we still haven't seen Amy proper ddisney X Marvel comics yet. Plus Xmen are purposely left out of all the big events these days.
Will be more interesting to see what expanded universe is kept and what's going to be killed. I'm guessing everything but the Brian wood book will killed. Maybe some books taking place in the Old Republic or during the clone wars.
