Fraiser Crane innocently walked into the building of his radio show in Seattle, as he usually does, not expecting anything strange to happen. He was leading a happy life and had a secure job. That was, until that morning. As soon as he entered the building, the roar of screeching tires sounded, and Fraiser quickly turned to see a car barreling right at him! With a yelp, he jumped out of the way, narrowly escaping death. The driver, despite crashing through the building, escaped. It didn’t stop there. Frasier couldn’t enter his studio due to a bomb threat that was put on him. Investigators never did find an explosive device, but there was a note left on Fraiser’s desk… “To Fraiser Crane: You best forfeit your time slot, or a bomb will be the least of your worries. From: The Kill Fraiser Crane Mafia Group P.S. Your suit looks ugly” That’s it? All of these attempts to kill Fraiser were all just because some group wanted him to give up his time slot on the radio? That’s silly! And of course, that’s what Fraiser thought. When he returned back to his apartment, he declared to his family: “No one will make Dr. Fraiser Crane surrender! I’ve ran from fights before, but not this time! We will hunker down and see just how serious this ‘Kill Fraiser Mafia Group’ is. Who knows, it may turn out to just be a prank!” Little did Fraiser know that the people he knew were conspiring against him… in a pub on the side of town, Fraiser’s producer, Roz, was talking with Gil Chesterton and ‘Bulldog’ Brsicoe. “I just can’t stand him anymore. His radio show sucks! And I have to produce for him”. “I can’t believe the car attack failed. We’ll need another route of attack” said Gil. “Oh yeah, we’ll be attacking. No way we fail this time” Bulldog said. “HEY! Have you forgotten I’m in charge?” Roz said angrily. “I’ll be calling the shots, and I’ll be the one to get rid of Fraiser Crane!”
Welcome to Mafia LVIII (Mafia 58)
And your theme for this game is… FRAISER!
Been re-watching the first season recently, and of course I thought about how to transform it into a Mafia game. Seeing as we haven’t had one in a while, it’s time for a reboot!
Now, for the basic rules: VOTING: Each day, a vote will take place. What you do in the vote is cast a vote for who you think could be a member of the evil Kill Fraiser Crane Mafia Group. To vote simply say in bold letters, vote (name of person you are accusing) EX: Vote Silenced. If you want to change your vote, put a slash through your previous vote and un-bold it. EX: Vote Silenced. The player with the most votes by the end of the day is killed off, unless there are exceptions (view the roles below to see). For this game, the day time is 8:30am EST to 12:30am EST.
NIGHT ACTIONS: Some players have special abilities that can be used during the nighttime (those roles will be described later). Night actions take place after the day time of the game has ended. To send in a night action, Private Message (PM) the host (Me) and tell me what your action is. If a night action is sent after nighttime is over, the action will not count. For this game, night actions will take place between 12:30am EST to 1:30am EST.
DAY ACTIONS: Certain roles have actions they can use during the day. To send in a day action, you just PM me like with night actions. However, day actions must come in during the day (hence the name). If a day action is sent in during the time night actions are sent in, the action will not count. Now, onto the roles!
TOWNIES: The Townies (in this case, Fraiser’s family and friends) are the innocent people looking to vote out the Mafia. Their task is to bump off the Mafia using sleuth skills and whatnot. Here are the Townie roles:
Fraiser Crane: Of course Fraiser has a role in this game! Seattle’s favorite psychiatrist on the radio will not stand aside for this battle, no sir! Fraiser has the ability to investigate 1 player during the day. To investigate, send me a PM during the day time of the game which says the name of the player you wish to investigate. I will send back the results.
Niles Crane: Niles won’t let his brother Fraiser fight on his own, will he? No! Niles is also a psychiatrist, so he aims to resolve conflict. In the event of a tie vote, Niles can determine who is to be killed off, by doing so he sends me a PM during the tie vote time. If Niles is killed off and there is a tie vote, the game will extend another half hour.
Martin Crane: The Cranes are striking back in full force! Martin can protect any player of his choosing each day by sending me a PM during any time of the day. If a player under protection is hit by the Mafia or Maris, they survive the night. However, Martin can only protect someone from the vote one time. If he wishes to protect someone from the vote, he must say so in the PM. This being said, it is crucial for Martin and Niles to work together at tie votes. Also, Martin cannot protect himself.
Presenting the MAFIA: The Mafia (The Kill Fraiser Mafia Group) aims to eliminate the townies until they get on an even ration of Mafia players to Townie players.
Here are Mafia roles:
Roz Doyle: Roz is trying to kill Fraiser? But why? I guess she’s just gotten very annoyed recently. Roz is the Godfather. She can send in a hit during night actions on who she wants to kill, and the next day they will be dead (unless they were protected by Martin). Mafia hits take priority over Maris’ hits. In investigation, she will show up as a regular Townie.
Gil Chesterton: Gil always did seem too nice… and that kindness can be deceiving! With Gil’s role, he can avoid investigation 1 time only, showing up as a townie. If he is investigated twice, he will be revealed as Mafia. If Roz dies, Gil becomes the Godfather, meaning he will always show as a Townie from that point on.
Bulldog Briscoe: Bulldog is the aggressive man of the group, and he’s out to make sure Fraiser doesn’t make any sudden moves. Bulldog has the ability of stopping someone from performing their action during the night OR day, depending on his choosing, but he cannot disable a person two times in a row (this is to make sure he doesn’t completely shut down the investigator role). If Maris has targeted Bulldog before he sends in his action which would have suppressed Maris, Maris’ hit takes priority. In investigation, he shows as Mafia. If Roz and Gil are killed, Bulldog becomes the Godfather.
And, if you didn’t guess already, we have a killer role!
Maris: Niles’ crazy ex-wife is out for revenge at the worst of times! Maris works like the Godfather; she sends in hits during the night. However, she has the special ability of being able to kill someone during the day one time. This works in the same way Martin’s vote protection does; Maris must specify that she is hitting someone during the day. After she does so, she cannot hit during the day again. In investigation, she appears as the killer.

FOR CLARIFICATION: DAY STARTS AT 8:30AM EST AND ENDS AT 12:30AM EST. NIGHT STARTS AT 12:30AM EST AND ENDS AT 1:00AM EST.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask before, during, or after the game.
To join the game, just say you’re going to play. No real rule for that. If you want to be fun, choose a character from the series to play as.
DEPENDING ON HOW MANY PLAYERS JOIN, THERE WILL BE ADDITIONAL TOWNIE AND MAFIA ROLES. DEADLINE FOR SIGN-UPS IS SATURDAY, AUGUST 31.

If that happens, I'd take it as a sign that the time of mafia games has maybe passed. That said, we've had games with low numbers like 11 or 12 people before. And it is summer time, a lot of people are getting in some last vacation time so there are other outside factors that could be at play.

It's possible that people just haven't seen this thread yet. Since it's been so long, then some of the veterans might need some attention drawn to this topic to know it exists. It's been here for five days and I just saw it today, for example.

With this many people, we can't quite fill the roles, and we'd have a really short game.
My advice with turnout so slow: Just post the minimum number of people you would need to play a basic game and so that we know how many more people we need to join. That might compel a few people to help out and join to get that number and then launch. If you still can't get to that number in a limited timeframe, then you've done your best and tried.
Keep in mind, it is summer and people are trying to get in some last holiday time before going back to school or work and turnouts have usually dipped at this time of year because of it.

Yeah, today is indeed Saturday. To be honest, we could keep pushing back the deadline, but I think the fact is that mafia games just aren't popular right now.

I am done with this site. I recommend to all of you to visit a site called Neoseeker. They have created a Mario based Mafia game. It is located in there General Mario Bros forum. The game used to be a similar Mafia game called Killer On The Loose but they changed it now and it is a fully active Mario Mafia game now.
