Title: Nintendo's B-List Games and the Developers That Should Handle Them

A recent article that features Shigeru Miyamoto basically squashes any hope of F-Zero fans getting a new title in the series any time soon. Factor into this that the Metroid and Star Fox series have essentially been put on hiatus until their recent less than adequate sequels fade into distant memory. However, all is not lost, while it appears that Nintendo has abandoned these games for more lucrative series there is still demand for theses games. Here is a list of developers that should handle new iterations:


Metroid: Wii U and 3DS


A third person reboot of the series in a similar manner to the recent Tomb Raider game. It would play similar to Uncharted. The game would be developed for the Wii U.


Potential Developers:
3DS:


A 2D sequel to the Wii U reboot for the Wii U.


Potential Developers:
Star Fox: Wii and 3DS


There needs to be a spiritual successor to Star Fox 64 for the Wii U.


Potential Developers:
F-Zero: Wii U and 3DS


Despite the series probably being the game least likely to get a new reboot, it would still be nice to see it happen.

I can't see any reason not to go back to SEGA and offer them a collaborative agreement to produce a new F-Zero game. In spite of it not selling terribly well, they did a really good job on it.


I would take the whole lot of B-franchises and tap third party developers. The key to success is to actually market the games. F-Zero GX deserved to be marketed, and at the time I'm not sure Nintendo did anything to help sell SEGA's game. Crying shame.

Actually giving Sega another chance...and just asking them to make the game a smidge easier would be all that is needed.

If SEGA made a F-Zero game then they would most likely give it to Sumo Digital, which would be more than welcome.

Who made Super Monkey Ball? Weren't they the same people at Sega that made F-Zero GX?

2D Metroid- Wayforward or Amature
3D Mettroid- Retro Studios or Human Head
Star Fox- Treasure or Respawn
Star Tropics - EAD (since its sci-fi zelda)


Thinking about it, SEGA has more IP I want revived than Nintendo. Maybe Nintendo should buy them.

Nintendo had their chance to buy Sega. They didn't want to assume Sega's debts. An IP grab would be he safest route, but I don't see Nintendo getting away with that robbery.

If Armature Studio wanted to work on Metroid, they wouldn't have left Retro Studios.

I would pick Platinum Games to make a new action-y 2D or 3D Metroid because the bitching from fans for this trolling would be glorious and the game would likely be awesome anyway.

If EA insists that they never bring their sports titles over to the Wii U then Nintendo should have Next Level Games make sports titles for them. Imagine Wii U Sports: American Football Edition 201X every year to comepete with Madden, and this is just one example of the kinds of games they could make for Nintendo.

You want Nintendo to spend money on an American football game without an NFL license to go up against Madden every year? Is that correct? The box might as well be empty because no one is buying that game.

If EA insists that they never bring their sports titles over to the Wii U then Nintendo should have Next Level Games make sports titles for them. Imagine Wii U Sports: American Football Edition 201X every year to comepete with Madden, and this is just one example of the kinds of games they could make for Nintendo.


It would get crushed due to no NFL support and i'm honesty not looking forward too Mario Sports game any more.

The studio formed after Prime 3, presumably because Nintendo said "OK, you've dicked around with this C-tier franchise long enough, time to make something good."

Yes, Amusement Vision made both F-Zero GX and the original Super Monkey Ball. The studio shut down in 2004 after Sega and Sammy merged, resulting in many of Sega's studios being consolidated into one.

Let SEGA partner with a Japanese company and make a 3DS version of F-Zero and let Sumo Digital make a Wii U version of F-Zero.

Yes, Amusement Vision made both F-Zero GX and the original Super Monkey Ball. The studio shut down in 2004 after Sega and Sammy merged, resulting in many of Sega's studios being consolidated into one.
Sort of, they first merged with Smilebit, then both split again with mixed teams to form what's now Yakuza Studio (Yakuza series, Monkey Ball series, Binary Domain) and Sega Sports Design (Mario & Sonic series, Let's Make a Pro Soccer/Baseball/Derby team franchises).

As much as I would love to see new F-Zero, the recent IGN interview with Shiggy saying he doesn't know what to do with the series scares the ever-loving **** out of me.

F-Zero plays PERFECT as it is. There is absolutley NO reason to **** around with it. What really needs to be done with it is include all the features that GX/Gamecube could not handle. IE: Track editor, online multiplayer; just a whole load of extras that couldn't fit on the GCN disc.

Also a better story in story mode would be pimp too

Nope, none.  Most of the Monkey Ball/F-Zero staff work on the Yakuza games now.

I thought they did pretty well with fast speed racing (and they proved old shiggy wrong in the process)
