Title: EA: We Are Building Titles for Wii U
Post by: Killer_Man_Jaro on May 22, 2013, 11:57:52 AM

EA is not neglecting Nintendo's console after all.

Electronic Arts has confirmed that it does actually have Wii U games in development, correcting earlier statements that the publisher was not supporting the system.

At the recent Stifel Nicolaus Internet, Media and Communications conference, Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer of EA, said that the publishing giant would, in fact, bring new software to Wii U in the future, "but not anywhere near as many as [they] are for PS or Xbox".

It is unknown at this time exactly what these games are, though it was previously confirmed that neither FIFA 14 nor Madden 25 will be released on Nintendo platforms.

One day after their terrible reception at the X Box One reveal, EA confirms it still needs to diversify its portfolio!

EA are just flip floppers. They need to decided what they want to do. After their unprofessional list of tweets in the previous week though I'm not sure if I want their games on the WiiU.

Giant corporations sending confusing and contradictory messages.

Still, better news than last week's.

Well it's nice to know that we'll be getting their shovelware at least.

To be fair, those Tweets were not from EA itself. It was one idiot programmer who was shooting his mouth off (and will probably get fired because of it).

This makes me wonder if Microsoft's new used game policy will push certain developers into Nintendo's arms?

What if the fact that EA is only now discounting Online Pass because of Xbox One maybe needing to use Key Codes to play games?

Just throwing that out there.

Considering these publishers were likely pushing for this to begin with... highly doubtful.

They're pushing for it. It's up to consumers to respond. I typically only buy games new and don't often trade games, but I think restricting used games is shenanigans. Unless it becomes standard and I don't have a choice, I won't support any console that mandates this (one of many reasons I will probably never buy an Xbox One). Sony is leaving DRM up to publishers. They're treading the line, but at least it's optional for now.

I think the sad truth is that if not this generation, then next generation will see the removal of used game functionality, and each system will have a Steam-esque style of DRM.
