Title: Smash Bros. Brawl controller lag (playing offline)?
Post by: tendoboy1984 on February 03, 2013, 06:44:56 PM
I've been playing Smash Bros. Brawl lately, and I noticed quite a bit of controller lag while navigating the menus and during matches. I only play OFFLINE, so it has nothing to do with Nintendo's online servers.

The lag mainly occurs when I'm holding down a button. The character will do this jerky "start-stop-start" movement. Sometimes I get a "double press" when tapping a button on the menu screen. This happens with both of my Wii Remotes.

The lag never occurs in any other Wii game I played.

Never ever herd of this before. Maybe age is catching up with your particular game?

Nope, I've never used the GameCube controller; I mainly play with the Wii Remote (gasp!).

Like I said before, I play OFFLINE, and the controller lag only occurs with Smash Bros. Brawl.

What TV are you using?

I'm thinking what SUPER is thinking. If you're using an HDTV you're going to get input lag.

I wonder if playing it on a Wii U connected by HDMI would make that better than a Wii through component. The Wii U outputs it in the native resolution of the TV, so it might be less of an issue there.

I can't really say about Smash, but i tried Rhythm Heaven Fever on my Wii U and it definitely feels very different. Not sure if there are any additional lag or Wii U removes what little lag my component+plasma had, but i know that i can't hit anything on Wii U.

If there's input lag using Wii U reverse compatibility, I'd sure like to know about it D:

There isn't. At least, not on my TV.

None of the above. I've never had this problem with any of my other Wii games (that I noticed).

It just seems like my button presses register TWICE when I'm only pressing a button once, and sometimes the input has a weird "start-stop, start-stop" delay.

Oh, now it sounds like your controller is shitting out. Can you try another controller to see if the problem persists?
