Close-up photography and weight loss discussions... the future of Miiverse has arrived.

New Miiverse interactions for upcoming first-party Wii U titles Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U were outlined in today's Nintendo Direct presentation.

In Pikmin 3, players have the option of using the Wii U GamePad as a camera and will be able to take close-up screenshots of gameplay from the perspective of individual Pikmin characters. The pictures can then be uploaded directly to the Pikmin 3 Miiverse community.

As for Wii Fit U, players will be able to create private user communities in the game's Miiverse. Each of these communities has a unique ID code which, when entered within Wii Fit U, will allow players to access them and enter discussions with fellow members.

Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U are both scheduled for release some time during Q2 of 2013.

I can imagine some pretty interesting scenarios where a picture from a Pikmin's point of view would be great.

Very smart to do private communities for Wii Ft U. You can have buddies motivating each other with health goals without having to reveal to the whole world your personal info.

Last time I checked, the game looked so good that seeing such a sight would probably bring tears to a grown mans eyes..

I, too, am excited about private communities for WiiFit U. It's a great consideration for those who want to get healthy with a like minded community without worrying about the peanut gallery that may chime in unnecessarily from time to time.

I know this is a verrryy late reply, but what if pikmin could get a fungus infection like those that kill ants (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuKjBIBBAL8)?

A graveyard for the infected....now that would be eerie.

I wonder if you can take these Point of View photographs at any point. I'd like to take a picture from the perspective of a Pikmin that is in the process of going down the gullet of a Bulborb. You know? To truely experience the horror of what happens to a Pikmin when it is swallowed whole.

I love the idea of being able to take pics from the Pikmons point of view. If you can do it anytime you want, what about the moment a Pikmin gets electrocuted? Can you do is when a Pikmin dies and their spirit is floating up?
