Title: Nyko, scratch that, NINTENDO comes through with battery
Post by: ShyGuy on January 09, 2013, 12:19:08 AM
Nyko has released their new super battery for the Wii U. They are boasting three times the battery life, but I want to see a review. It's not a big ugly external pack. This would be handy!

Their 3DS PowerPak worked well.

I've heard mixed reviews on it and there are some very unflattering reviews on Amazon.
Meanwhile, my own experience with Nyko chargers and their customer service has made me determined to stay away from them for life. (Although I did buy a cheap-ass wireless classic controller thing on sale at a store that was closing for $3 new. It works, but feels cheap and is actually kinda tiny. Don't use it much.)

Is this recent or pre-Wii experience?

Very interested in hearing reviews for this thing.

It's about a five year grudge (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=21668.0;nowap).
I don't like getting screwed over.

Don't need it. In between plays I watch Netflix, or Youtube while it charges, and as do I.

This would be handy I spend so much time on Miiverse I often see the low battery indicator. Still its Nyko, so yeah reviews first.

I can't help but be curious, what happened when you spoke with the GameCrazy manager? Did you ever get your money back somehow? Did Nyko send you back your chargers or two new ones? What did your store's head buyer say if you told him about crappy Nyko products?

lol.
Sent back two chargers - I don't have any way of knowing if they were different ones or not, but they did work. I did not get my money back (GameCrazy was unable to refund my money at this point, as it was after the return period). Nyko sent me a bunch of accessories (a new charging pack and two of the "everything but the kitchen sink" accessory packs. I've never opened them and refused to.) The head buyer at the time thanked me for my e-mail, but that's about it. I've noticed that we've still carried some Nyko products since then, but I don't think we've ever carried any of the charging devices.

I found a picture of UncleBob!
It was next to the definition of the word 'spite' in the dictionary ;)

Hey, at least I admit it's a grudge.
I had to buy another DS lite charger because I was going to be without for two weeks or so (and that's just not cool). Plus the cost of their crappy battery pack. The fact that it was faulty hardware was one thing - but the fact that they gave me the run around with their poor customer service *and* tried to bribe me off with some of the ugliest DS carrying cases this side of etsy... blah.
They sent that ugly black one and they pink/white one. I guess they could have sent the camo one.. that would have been worse. ;)

5-8 hours is a major disparity.

I'm guessing it depends on the brightness level of the Gamepad. Brightest 5 hours, lowest 8 hours. I get about 3 hours on the brightest setting right now from the stock battery..
BY THE WAY, The Nyko replacement battery has finally reached the market for fifty freaking dollars!
