Title: I'm guessing I'm the only one who doesn't listen to the podcast?

I just can't get into them.

Mental note: Insult Oblivion on the podcasts all the time.

I'm trying to listen to the ZombiU episode of Connectivity.

That's too bad cause as far podcasts go, RFN is really good with audio quality, which sounds nitpicky but there are a LOT of other even popular podcasts where quality is simply not on par. Or the voices are kinda annoying. The sound is all there is to podcast, make it good. Also as fellow ATLA fan perhaps you might be interested in "Big pull" podcast: http://podbay.fm/show/542989585 Some familiar names in there, and audio is very good.

It's just Mike as a guest here and there though, no Bryan from what i heard. Giancarlo is a regular, too.

I'm the opposite. I often worry that I listen to too many podcasts. When I'm out running, walking to work, cleaning the house, playing games that don't require my full attention, when I want something to send me off to blissful sleep.
Recently I've been burning through the /Filmcast (which is pretty great), catching up on No More Whoppers (which can be hilarious), and I've also been checking out some of the earlier episodes of Radiolab that I missed.
There's such a disparate selection of great podcasts out there. I'm sure there are more than a few that you would find interesting.

Do you enjoy talk radio or books on tape?

Oh ha har.
And don't get me wrong, I like podcasts, just not the ones NWR made. I did like that Connectivity episode, but it might be because I haven't listened to the ones before it.

I'd argue it's better than 1UpYours, but either way RFN is up there amongst the best.
I know the Bombcast isn't to everyone's tastes, but I hope you guys check out their Game of the Year podcasts when they're released next week. Those things are always fantastic. Long, but fantastic.

I enjoyed bombcast animated excerpts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssmmykaaAjA&list=PLFA829BD57A2DDF2E&index=3), but based on these i can't see them as a good gaming podcast.

That's fair. As I say, it's not for everyone. Those animated excerpts are hilarious though. You might like this

I used to listen to the Giant Bombcast, but stopped because it's unfocused, gets off-topic way too often (and too long), and seems like they couldn't care less. The last episode I listened too had them spend 20 MINUTES eating food a listener had sent them and burping while talking about the food. I already have too many podcasts to listen to, the last thing I need is a useless one like that when there are many better gaming podcasts. I love RFN. My favorite part of any NWR podcasts are the "Jeopardy" and "Who Wants to be a Nintendoaire?" segments of Connectivity (especially when I hear one of the contestants say a question is "hard" and it would be like a $200 easy question to me). I would kick butt on Nintendoaire.

Jeff Gerstmann is the most cynical, unenthusiastic "game journalist" in the industry today. Klepick is awesome though.
"Jeff! You just won 10 million dollars and your belly button lint is a cure for cancer!" (long pause) "Hey. great. whatever. These video games kinda suck."

Yeah, I can't listen to the Bombcast that often. Which is too bad cuz I really like most of those guys and have since they were all at GameSpot but they're just too damn long and meandering. Some people love that **** though.

My favorite part was when broodwars parroted my insightful gameplay analysis (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=36345.175) of PSAS. But then he got a bunch of stuff wrong anyway!
The worst thing is that the game doesn't have bar-chatting fanservice? It's a bad thing that all the characters are unlocked at the start? what :brony

This isn't all that relevant to the topic but I just thought I'd say again how awesome the live show was this year. RFN, Giantbomb (in the shape of Brad), Wii-k in Review (in the shape of Craig), and 8-4 Play together?! It still blows my mind that you guys were able to pull it off.

It was, of course, missing the sultry tones of Greg Leahy to complete the set.
Tangent. James, Jonny, Greg (and later Gui!) and The Lindemann all have such differing voices it makes them easy and interesting to listen to. Imagine Jonny going off on a high-pitched single-breath hyper-rant like James does?

I've thought that too. They compliment each other really well.
Tangent. The funniest part of last weeks episode was when Johnny asked if people should vote with their dollars and buy Mass Effect 3, and Gui broke in with 'F***********k that'. lol.

I was on it in the sense that my omnipotent spirit was being channeled. I have nothing to do with the nonstop gushing over the furry character, though.

I see SOMEONE'S lost a few matches to Sly (aka the best character in that game IMO). ;)

Not to be confused with the voices in your head telling you to burn everything to the ground.
Those voices kept me up all night with their raucous partying, ugh!

I used to listen to RFN regularly but I stopped because my iPod Touch died and I started using my phone (an old Palm phone, yeah, it's old, but it was cheap and it's on a prepaid service where I spend about $5 a month for service) which doesn't support the file format they use, I'm assuming because the podcast is divided into chapters. I have enough other podcasts that I listen to that I struggle to stay caught up as it is, just not enough hours in the day.

Same here, mostly because I can listen while multitasking. The realities of parenthood have ensured that I spend far more time listening to podcasts about gaming than I spend actually playing video games. :(

Yup. Although, for me it's not parenthood. It's simply that there are so many other occasions that lend themselves to audio only entertainment. When I play a game I need to actually set aside time for that express purpose. With podcasts I'm usually doing something else (usually mundane) and the music or podcast just makes that task go by quicker.

The reason I don't listen to podcast though is, listening to people talk or argue usually just gives me a headache. The only radio show I could ever stomach was Howard Stern and most of the time, it was so entertaining that I would get distracted and forget I had school/work to go to that morning.

There are definitely bad podcasts out there that are too antagonistc or just badly produced and those can, indeed, be headache inducing. However, if you enjoy hearing interesting stories shows like Radiolab and A Life Well Wasted are great.

NWR episode 103 is a must listen because Crimm's attempt to host a podcast turns into 2 hours in which basically everyone who has ever visited this site gets insulted in some way by Stan and Carl
