Title: Wii U save data question...
Post by: tendoboy1984 on November 27, 2012, 11:39:43 PM
When it comes to downloadable software, does the Wii U have separate save data and game data files (like on the original Wii)? Or are save data and game data linked together in one file (like on the 3DS)?

I want to move Skyward Sword and Epic Mickey from a different Wii, so I guess we will find out!

That's a good question. I read somewhere it won't work between two Wii U units and a single Wii, so you can't duplicate your Wiiware and VC games on two systems.

I ask because it would cutout Nintendo being the middle man when it comes to transferring Wii data to another Wii. It could work if the Wii U enters Wii mode to transfer the Wii data to its own system memory. All someone would have to do is take two blank Wiis and download the transfer app for both. Then buy a NES Virtual Console game and see if the data will transfer from Wii A to Wii B. It is worth the shot to find out. Someone like UnclBob would be great for this experiment.

No no no! I'm talking about Wii U downloadable software (eShop stuff). Are the game data and save data stored as seperate files (like the original Wii)? Or is it more like the 3DS, which has game data and save data as a single file?
