Title: What Can I Use To Plug/Cover/Fill the Card Slot in a DS?
Post by: Kairon on September 21, 2012, 03:38:59 PM
Hi guys,
I'm sort of at a loss right now... I have a DSi I want to put into storage, but I would like to put something in its card/cartridge slot so that it isn't empty and exposed. I COULD just put an random game in there, but I'd much rather store all my games in their proper cases.
Does anyone know of anything that I could insert in a DS/DSi/3DS card/cartridge slot to limit exposure and protect it from dust and stuff?

You could just buy a cheap, used DS game that u don't need. You could also buy the DS Browser cartridge, Amazon has it for $11.87: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DS-Browser/dp/B000OAO494

Put it in an antistatic bag. Though You could probably get away with wrapping it in Saran Wrap.

America's Test Kitchen usually sells for about $3 and you get the bonus of recipes.

To use for the exact purpose you're wanting. I have my original DS, my DS Lite, my DSi, my wife's DSi, my DSiXL... all in "storage". a pack of five of these would be great for me... I thought about having a fake label made up for a "DS Cartridge Slot Dust Cover" to put on them...

I usually keep all the packaging of my systems and their boxes. If it's good enough for pre-sale storage then it's good enough for my storage needs is my thinking. If the original box is still intact wouldn't that be enough to keep the system clean and safe?

Yeah, but uh... I can't find my DSi box... >_< please don't hate me!
And Unclebob, those are GREAT! Exactly what I was looking for I think!

Yeah - perhaps I'm just paranoid from the NES, but I don't like the idea of keeping a game card in the system for long-term storage for fear that it'll warp the connector pins. These empty cases would cover the slot without worry of anything touching the pins. ;)

Here's a real cheap solution - sandwich bag. Wow. Mind blown. I do this with my game boy games that don't have the cases (bought used). Works great.

Haha, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm actually already using large ziploc bags for a couple of my gaming things... anyways, there's nothing to say I can't use both ^_^

A piece of duct tape should do the trick.

These are wonderful UncleBob. Exactly what I was expecting. Now... umm... do they come in GBA sizes? ^_^
