Title: Every World in Rayman Legends Will Feature a Musical Level

And half of the musical levels will feature licensed music, such as "Black Betty", as performed by Rayman characters.

Rayman Legends, a the currently Wii U-exclusive sequel to Rayman Origins, will feature a variety of musical levels, to the tune of one per world, according to a comment from IGN's Rich George. Half of those songs will feature licensed music, too.

A trailer was also released that features a musical level using a Rayman-ified version of "Black Betty", a song that has been covered by numerous bands but is likely best known courtesy of the '70s rock group Ram Jam.

In case you didn't know, there were around 11 worlds in Rayman Origins last year, so that means we can look forward to somewhere in the ballpark of 10 musical levels, with five of them featuring licensed music.

Rayman Legends is slated to come out later this year as a Wii U exclusive (at least for now).

At first I was disappointed by the change in "lyrics", but it quickly grew on me.

This is such a cool idea. I just love how the song is synchronised with every action Rayman performs, so when he slides along a wire, the guitar slides down the frets, and each time he knocks away a barrier, there's a heavy power chord or a cymbal crash to accompany it. I wonder if these levels will become as difficult as The Land of the Livid Dead got to be in Origins.

@Kiaron: I agree.  Mario just looks plain, well, plain compared to Rayman and Trine 2. I will buy those before buying Mario. NSMBU looks too much like NSMBW. It's just not that much of a game-changer, IMO. I only played a little bit of Trine 1 and Rayman Origins, so this is still going to be a fresher experience for me. Mario can wait.

And let me just add: Ubisoft is just killing it for the WiiU launch. We know they dumped garbage on the Wii launch, but it feels like they've put more effort into their exclusives this time around. ZombiU, Rayman, and AC III (not exclusive, but does have exclusive content) are must-buys for me. Sad to say, unless they come up with some surprise game, I will not be buying a single Nintendo game in the launch window.

I was pretty entertained by the video, but I'm still confused about something. Is the player controlling both Rayman and Murphy at the same time? I ask because in the video, it shows Murphy being used. If a player isn't controlling both, then how will that affect playing such levels solo?

Yeah, I think that Ubisoft's done a good job so far of "selling" Rayman Legends and creating real hype-able points to that game. The truth is that Mario U just keeps looking and sounding better and better, especially with the most recent stuff to come out of game informer and what is likely to be one of the most innovative miiverse integrations out there but, well... like you said: right now, "Mario can wait."

Sad to say, unless they come up with some surprise game, I will not be buying a single Nintendo game in the launch window.
