Rhythm Hunter: HarmoKnight, a rhythm game developed by Game Freak (the same team that develops Pokémon), is coming to the eShop in Japan next month, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revelaed during the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct.

Rhythm Hunter is a combination of rhythm and action, and tasks the player with jumping and attacking through a stage with correct timing. An Iwata Asks will be released for the game today.

The game releases on the Japanese eShop on September 5, priced at 1,800 yen.

I hope that and Dempa no RPG 1 and 2 come to NA as well as:
  • Friend Collection 3DS
  • Bravery Default: Flying Fairy
  • Project X-Zone
  • and the Professor Layton game

Dempa no RPG was confirmed last month to be coming to North America.

So I'm just thinking that there is someone in a smoke filled room planning releases just to have Rhythm games on NFR...

It goes without saying that this is coming to NA right?  This was the most interesting piece of news from the Nintendo Direct to me.

I'm always on board with oddball Japanese rhythm games, even after splurging on Rhythm Heaven and Rhythm Thief this year. It's also good news to see first-party studios putting effort into the eShop - not to mention that it's Game Freak, doing their first non-Pokémon title since Drill Dozer on the GBA.

Looks like fun

But that trailer sure made it look like a 99cent iOS game. Its like another endless runner type of game with rhythm. Art style seems very "App Store". I can't quite put my finger on it.

But hey, I love me some rhythm games and i love Nintendio and the e-shop. So bring it on.
