First, here's the much (unfairly) maligned commercial in question:
"DERRR HERRR HERRR! IT'S KIDDY OMG FUCKING NINTENDO CASUAL BABY SYSTEM PURPLE LUNCHBOX!" No. It's actually a parody of the anti-pollution Public Service Announcements that ran from the 70's all the way into the early 90's. Specifically, the Woodsy the Owl PSAs.
Proof:
Well holy **** look at that! It matches up nearly 1:1 with the Mario commercial. Who'da guessed? Well, anybody that was actually, y'know old enough to remember these commecials. You know, the same sort of people that claim to be "too old" for Nintendo.
Of course, even if you aren't old enough to remember these commercials, your still a goddamn moron if you took the Mario commercial at face value.

It's true. Now if you really want to give your funhouse thread some bite, you should search the forum for some individuals to quote & call out for being little babies that are too young to identify satire. Or travel back in time back to when it was relevant

I enjoy the commercial.
Though considering we are still talking about it today I think this commercial was Super Effective.
Ironically this is the first time I actual saw the spot but, I know most of the wording from people talking.

How can Nintendo be kiddie if its doing parodies of things from the 70's which were long before kids today were born, and possibly also before their parents were even born? That said, I think the reference was lost on most people. If you're going to do a parody of something, do it on something people will recognize.

i could tell it was a parody from the beginning, the paraplegic and the butthead pimp by the fire voice are what tipped me off.
i of course knew everyone else was going to take it the wrong way.
