Title: Skylanders Sidekicks Frito-Lay Promotion Kicking Off in July
Post by: NWR_Neal on June 24, 2012, 05:37:23 PM

Buy specially marked Frito-Lay products to get the chance to mail away for four exclusive characters.

The Skylanders Sidekicks Frito-Lay promotion should be beginning on July 9, according to a Frito-Lay presentation.

To get Sidekicks, which are diminutive versions of existing Skylanders that appear next to your character in the game, you have to buy specially marked Frito Lay's Classic and Flavor 20-count Variety Packs, which are listed to be $6.15 in the marketing materials.

The promotion will work in waves, one for each of the four characters (Whisper Elf, Trigger Snappy, Gill Runt, and Terrabite), with the first beginning on July 9, and the other three kicking off every two weeks after (July 23, August 6, August 20).

Redemption details likely won't be confirmed until the boxes appear in stores, but it can be assumed that you will likely have to send in some sort of proof of purchase from the box to get the Sidekick mailed to you.

Actually if this is anything like the one they had a few months ago you might not need anything at all. The one before had a little card you went online and typed in a code on the website. What was so odd about it was, based off what people had read from the rules, pretty much EVERYONE won until the prizes were out. It was just the same same Stumpy/tree guy figure covered in felt instead of plastic though.

Honestly don't really think he looks that different out of the cutscenes.

Is Spyro's look a legitimate reason to keep yourself from playing a game?  I can understand avoiding Skylanders to prevent yourself from collecting hundreds of dollars worth of plastic toys, but Spyro is really kind-of a character tacked-onto a game that barely involves him (you could even avoid playing as him altogether if you'd like by buying the portal used and getting some of the other character packs instead).

Ok, so I found a picture showing all of Spyro's in-game Incarnations from start to finish.  What I'm reading your statement as now is "I want Spyro to look Really Dopey and sort of like he has Down Syndrome."

The core characteristics are there in the Skylander version and he looks a lot more like the box art version of Spyro on all the games that I'm use to seeing then those games in game incarnations its seems.
