The decent thing to do would be to at least bring it to the Wii U as well. Sadly, so far its only announced for PS3.

I don't get the "once again" part.
Capcom released RE4 "exclusively" for a Nintendo system, made it better for a Sony system, then made it better for another Nintendo system.
Here, Capcom released Okami for a Sony system, made it better for a Nintendo system, then made it better for a Sony system...

Hmm... I'm missing the bad in this announcement. Seems like a whole lot of "win" to me if more people get to play a solid game like Okami.

Yeah, me neither. The Wii port came out over 4 years ago. That's plenty of time for Wii owners to have bought the game and enjoyed it without feeling a tinge of buyer's remorse over seeing a remastered version. I don't see how Capcom is wronging Nintendo in any way. Additionally, my understanding is that this is PSN only. No thanks. I have 2 physical copies of this game. I don't need a download with better textures and compatibility with a controller I don't own. I suppose Capcom could put this on the Wii U eshop at some point but I wouldn't get it on that either.

This game seems so perfectly suited to the Wii U, though. No other control method could do it as well as the gamepad.

Well, I hope Capcom's written better symbol recognition software for this PS3 Move version than they had in the Wii version, because I found that version of the game just aggravating in how randomly it interpreted your brush strokes. I never did beat the Wii version, though, and this version will have HD visuals and full trophy support (including a Platinum) so I'll probably check it out. Maybe I'll actually like the game this time. Maybe.

...and it would be horrible. They should've done what the original was eluding to: Ammy exploring her homeland and cleaning it up and having adventures there with Wakka. No one wanted Okamiden. No one.
Broodwars: You should've played the PS2 before the Wii version.

*shrugs*
So I've heard, but I didn't have the hardware to play that game until a year or two after the Wii version released. And after the frustrating experience I had with the Wii version, I really didn't want to play that game again.
And I thought people actually liked Okamiden, despite all the issues with the lag in bringing the celestial brush up.

I haven't played Okamiden. It sounds like you're main issue is the plot. In any case, I'd rather get a new game than another version of the original only with GamePad support.

This version allows you to play it with just the controller. No need for the Move. Hopefully you can enjoy this game because of that.
I'm surprised you had problems with the Wii version.

Yeah, there were certain symbols I just could not get to register correctly in the Wii version, such as the straight line for the cut attack and the zig-zag for the lightning attack. I think the circle for plant restoration translated as the "sun" spell quite a few times, too. There were others that were problematic, too, but those 3 are the ones I remember having the most problems with.
I'm fine with using a motion controller for this game, as I really can't imagine drawing those symbols with a control stick. It would just be too slow, especially against a certain boss late in the game where you can't rely on the game being paused while you use the brush. The symbol recognition (plus, to some extent, the Wii version using waggle for attack) just bugged me in the Wii version.

Oh wow, that is odd. I don't recall ever having consist recognition problems in Okami, but I guess everyone plays differently to a point it actually will make a difference to a few.
The only Wii game I ever had motion control problems with recognition was with SSX Blur. Never touched that game after many, many tries. It was when doing an Uber-Trick.

While I agree that Chozo Ghost is being obnoxious, I don't agree with UncleBob.
The Wii version was not superior. It removed the paper parchment effect (semi-ruining the graphics) and tried to fix the control issues with the brush of the first game with motion control (which only made things worse).
The PS3 version is not only getting rid of the paper parchment effect again, they are also washing out the colors and the HD makes it more vivid, turning the graphics into something that looks nothing like the original. In a bad way. Plus, the Move support will hardly improve the brush controls. If at all.
So yeah, I'm not happy about this version. It's an obvious cash-in. HD rereleases tend have work put into the textures and graphics, and these obviously do not. I'll buy this, but only because it's $20.

Wait, I'm confused. You suggested that Capcom "should have done what the original was eluding to: Ammy exploring her homeland and cleaning it up and having adventures there with Wakka." That sounds more like plot than gameplay expansion. The Okami follow-up you want would just have players control Amaterasu instead of Chibiterasu, but I don't see how that would have necessarily changed the gameplay from what was in Okamiden. Additionally, I don't see how anything that was said would automatically make an Okami 3 horrible. Suppose Capcom expanded the gameplay from both Okami and Okamiden. Wouldn't that be acceptable to you?
If Capcom insists on using the Wii U GamePad in an Okami title, I'd rather they build it from the ground up as a sequel rather than using the original again (unless they just up a remake the whole game from scratch). Judging by your other posts in this thread, the original PS2 version is the best one so they shouldn't keep messing with it. I'd rather have a sequel.

I never understood the complaints about brush controls in the Wii version of Okami. I agree that the recognition could have been better, but didn't experience any notable issues and felt it was better with a Wii remote than with dual analogs. To each their own, I guess.
(I did find it ridiculous how many people never learned to use the B button correctly for drawing straight lines, as shown in the tutorial and the instruction manual, and instead blamed the game for their own faults. Not saying that is the case here - but it was the case for more than one professional reviewer.)

Oh, I highly disagree with this statement. It may have been worse for you, but I found that using the Celestial brush with motion control was fantastic. I very rarely had a problem painting the symbols, and I found the combat quite enjoyable -- even with the goofy waggle for attack. And this all coming from a guy who played the much inferior PS2 version, too.
I would say, "You're doing it wrong." But eh.. to each his own. :/ Whatevs.

I don't know. I had issues with it and I've done some Googling and I wasn't the only one who had an issue. That could be just typical fanboy wank, but I'm not sure.
And I care a lot about the plot and look of the game, and I would call it inferior simply for the fact that it took away what made Okami's graphics unique and took a bit of the ending out of the PS2 game.

Well, then I have to ask... did you play the Wii version of Okami on a HD televsion, or did you play it the correct way on a SDtv? Because the game is outright gorgeous on a standard def tv. Even taking away the graphical effect from the PS2 version, the game looks great. And honestly (remember, I played both), I much prefer the Wii version - both graphically and play control-wise.
It's how I played Skyward Sword, too - which also totally blew me away on a SDtv.

Whoa, bold statement there, buddy. I happen to like points that Chozo and few others make on this forum, because it keeps everyone in check. Not everyone has to agree on everything (such as I'm doing with you right now), and it's all for the better.
But yeah, I really hope this lands on Wii U's eShop. ^_^

I'm talking for myself not liking him (which is increasingly easier and easier to do considering his tactics). I'm not speaking for everyone. And this has nothing to do with needing everyone to agree with everybody. This has to do with Chozo acting out, posting something incendiary, and then acting the victim and/or obtuse about it. I should just ignore him, but it's just so easy to call him out on it. Pathetically so.

Of course. And that's why I'll probably hate this HD version, but I always have to give it a chance to see it in motion. Obviosly, since I don't own an HDTV, I won't see too much of a difference, just the absence of the paper parchment filter and the color difference.
I'm curious to see how different the Move controllers are to the Wii controls, but since I don't own a Move, I'll be going off of other's impressions.
I'd rather have Okami 2 (or 3, I guess) than an HD version.

Aww... you reminded me about the waggle. While I thought the brush controls were good, the waggle was disappointing and largely ignored when I played because it's kind of annoying (to me at least).
Shucks, had almost blocked that part of the controls right out.

A few week sago I wouldn't have known you from Adam, but lately you've come out of the woodwork and been attacking me every chance you get. I didn't have that much of a problem with celestial brush Wii controls during normal gameplay (aside from I think one of the "advanced" symbols that is optional and useless), but every time there was a quick time event sequence I came within a hair's breadth of chucking the game out the window. Those sequences made me angry enough to dislike the overall game.

The PlayStation Blog posted some Impressions (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/12/okami-hd-at-comic-con-amaterasu-unleashed-with-move-1080p/) of Okami HD. Now, given that this is a Sony-run Blog and a Sony exclusive, take the article in general with a heavy grain of salt. But this is the important part I'd like to point out:
Quote
The team even lets you play with filter effects in this version; opt for “Heavy,” and the sky appears to have been painted on a rough scroll, making things pop with a timeless, storybook look. It’s may be clichéd to say, but I can’t help but think that Okami HD is a more pure expression of the vision that Clover Studio had when they created the game in 2006.
So for those of you complaining about the "parchment" filter being gone, Sony just confirmed that it's there. It's just a toggle-able option. The game will also run natively in 1080p.
