Title: 'Nintendo Direct Pre E3 2012' Announced for Tomorrow

Expect plenty of Wii U talk.

Nintendo Direct will be aired on Nintendo's official website worldwide tomorrow, June 3, to discuss the concept behind Wii U.

The presentation itself takes place in North America at 3 p.m. PDT / 6 p.m. EDT, in Europe at 11 p.m. BST / 12 a.m. CET, June 4 in Japan at 7 a.m. JST and in Australia at 8 a.m. AEST. The focus will be on the concept of Wii U's hardware, with more concrete details on the software side to be revealed at their E3 press conference on Tuesday.

The Japanese-language version will also be streamed on Ustream and Nico Nico Live, while the English-language version will be subtitled in French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian, and will also air on Facebook. The presentation was pre-recorded.

Cool, can't wait to see it. If they are going to be talking about hardware, I hope they confirm the version of the WiiU controller with analog sticks instead of slide pads. Please Nintendo, make that happen.


Slide pads are fine for my 3DS, it's a portable i can understand the need for them with the system's design in mind. But for my home Nintendo console, I want actual analog sticks. Like my N64, Gamecube, and Wii had. Why ruin a good thing; that's what I say.

Two days, actually. And less than that, really.

As already mentioned, I bet it's to clear the air about certain aspects of the console. Should be interesting!

Sunday - Nintendo Direct. Wii U hardware
Monday - 3rd party press conferences with Wii U games
Tuesday - Press conference. Website updated with game information like last year. Developer discussion that night.
Wednesday - Software showcase event

In between that are Sony and Microsoft. E3 this year is Nintendo's show. They'll be the first thing people talk about and the last thing. They'll be the center piece as well. No matter what Sony and Microsoft announce they'll be going up against Nintendo coverage and hype on all sides, even at the 3rd party conferences.

Look at Monday alone. Nintendo Direct Sunday night. Will still be the talk Monday morning before Microsoft. Then comes Ubisoft where there will be Wii U games. They'll want to hype their new games and IPs a lot as it benefits them. Then Sony. However what will be the talk Tuesday morning? What Sony announced the night before or what Nintendo will be revealing that morning since there have been no leaks? Nintendo of course. Then it's Nintendo for the rest of the day and the next.

 I wonder if they plan on revealing the final hardware design on Sunday, ahead of Ubisoft and EA’s press conferences, on Monday? That way Nintendo can try to mitigate confusion regarding the finalized controller before they show it on Tuesday.

intriguing. Grab some attention on the day before everyone else has their conference(s) (not to mention: Ubisoft will have something Wii U related at their conference, wouldn't be surprised if EA did as well), steal the show on the day following. Ninty is taking things serious this year. Also this (via GAF):

Dear god. Four straight days of Nintendo stuff to look forward to? Talk about a full court press!

I'm also pretty jazzed about tht fact that Nintendo directly promised that they'll be talking about the Wii U at this Nintendo Direct! No ambiguities about that at all!

I already joked that it would be all DS family stuff when I just heard they be having a Nintendo Direct. Glad to hear its about WiiU hardware but I still don't want analog sticks. =P

My theory is that this is to reintroduce the Wii U to everybody since it's been a year since 2011, but updated with some new features/hardware.

This Nintendo Direct will be a mixture of "get the boring last gen crap out the way" (Last Story, 2DS stuff) and "get the techie details out there to please the hardcore" because they sure as hell aren't going to be presenting a slideshow of friends lists, logins and achievement points during the main event!


The big show is just gonna be games, games, games!!


I'm aboard that BttF hype train, approaching cliff...

My initial thought was that this is very unusual. Then it occurred to me - the big five press conferences have an approximate length of 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If Nintendo feels they need to have another presentation 2 days earlier, they must have a lot to show. Is there so much Wii U and 3DS software to show off that talking about visions for the hardware has to be moved out of the main event?
