Title: Club Nintendo Survey Values Changing in July
Post by: MoronSonOfBoron on June 01, 2012, 09:44:34 PM

3DS post-play and eShop coin values will be reduced, along with Wii and DS adjustments.

Club Nintendo will make a number of sweeping changes to the coin values of games and surveys on July 1 in North America.

On 3DS, all post-play surveys will be reduced from 20 to 10 coins. Members of Club Nintendo will receive the new coin value for surveys completed after July 1. Most eShop games will be reduced from 10 to 5 Coins. All first-party and some third-party 3DS titles will be increased in coin value.

Wii game coin values will be adjusted, with newer titles generally receiving less reduction in value. Nintendo Select titles will be lowered from 50 to 20 coins. Following a recent system price drop, DSi and DSi XL system registration will be reduced in coin value. A number of DS titles will also have coin values adjusted.

After a recent update, survey expiration dates are now sorted in ascending order, making it easier to see which need to be completed first.

Disappointing to see Club Nintendo continually squeeze out the early adopters.

Isn't this actually squeezing out late adopters? I mean, this definitely affects me and my 35-abouts items on my to-do list in Club Nintendo, but I don't think it was ever intended use of Club Nintendo for me to code-hoard and squat on dozens of post-play surveys.

I'm looking forward to July when I just do all my year-old post-play surveys and try to start over with a clean slate going forward.

It affects everybody, but it's been an incremental push to eliminate "hoarding." I think there would have been much less of a problem if they had more compelling rewards rather than pushing people to redeem their coins.

Well, as usual, that's bullshit. I wonder when the gold and platinum rewards will be announced for this fiscal year....

Well, I suppose it's a good thing now that Nintendo of America never puts anything on the Club Nintendo store worth buying (at least if you're a console-only owner), or I'd be outraged at this.  As it is, I just have to shrug and see it as an effort for Nintendo of America to cut their Club Nintendo costs by ensuring that they have to ship fewer crap per year.

Hmph.

This actually puts it a little more in line with Japan's club Nintendo, if my understanding of how it works is correct.

I'm gonna have to sit down and figure out which games I need to register/survey now and which ones can wait.

Platinum on Day 1 just got a little harder.

If we got some of Japan's Club Nintendo rewards, this might sting a little less.   Or wait, would that be NOA trolling us?

Gah.  I wish they had put these up as a text list instead of an image.  It'd make them easier to go through by pasting them into a spreadsheet and lining them up and such.

It's probably a bad thing I have that many games I need to do that with, eh?

Hm.  This is Interesting.  3DS post-play surveys dropping from 20 to 10, but many of the games are going from 30 to 40.  Meaning you equal out there.  Something to consider when determining which ones to do now and which ones to wait on.

So... I need to register 11 of my 22 games I've got in waiting, then take a total of 39 surveys.  I'll still have plenty of surveys in waiting to hit Platinum on Day 1 next year.

Ugh.  So, in the next month, I'm going to have to do a crap-ton of surveys.

Also, my copy of Mario Hoops 3-on-3, which I just opened, didn't have a code in it.  Am I alone here?

I thought you could register both the Nintendo Selects and the regular version of a title...  it won't let me?

Okay, a metric crap ton of surveys later, I've got everything I *need* registered, registered and all the surveys I need to get done, done.

1,880 coins in the bank, 11 games left to register and 26 surveys left to do (and 11 more that should popup in the next week or so).

Now, to look over the 3DS e-shop titles and see if I should pick up any I was waiting on.

I don't have that game and haven't gotten a new game without a code, but the FAQ on Club Nintendo's website has this to say if you don't get a code:

Quote
If the game you purchased is eligible (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/club/en/faq.jsp?menu=products&submenu=clubn-faq-eligible-which-products) for registration and the card with the PIN code is missing, please contact us (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/webform.jsp) and provide your name, username, email address, and the game title you're inquiring about.

I don't know why you could TBH, they just slap the same disc in a new box with a lower price, but it's the same game.
