To celebrate Kirby’s 20th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing a Kirby compilation disc for Wii. The collection was announced during the Japanese Nintendo Direct conference and subsequently confirmed for North American release through Nintendo of America’s twitter account.
There is currently no information regarding the games that will be included in the collection. However, it’s safe to assume that the collection will be similar to the one released in 2010 for Mario’s 25th anniversary.
As a Kirby fan, might I say "meh"? The Kirby games have evolved over the years, and some of the earlier ones are really as fun to play any more. Now, Kirby's Dreamland 3 is something I'd love to revisit as well as the spinoffs, but that's not enough to get me excited. This only raises the question of why Nintendo hates Metroid.

Nintendo is a Japan-centric company and Metroid is relatively unpopular in Japan. I think that's the main reason. Note that Japan had to buy the NPC Metroid Prime games individually while we in the West got Metroid Primes 1-3 in a nice collection.
As noted, there is no existing Kirby compilation, so Nintendo would actually have to put one together. This could be interesting...
Well realistically I'd imagine this will contain all the Kirby games that are on the Wii's Virtual Console. Since the emulations for running on the Wii's hardware are already done, this would allow Nintendo to easily copy and paste all of these games to a Wii disk and call it a day.
Since the Wii is pretty much dead and no Kirby games have been added to the system in about 2 years now, I can see why Nintendo would have no problem doing this since no one is really downloading these games anymore. Of course don't expect any of the Gameboy games to hit this collection since Nintendo is adding those to the 3DS which is very much alive at the moment and they wouldn't want this collection hurting potential sales for that system. This means the collection will probably include.
Kirby's Adventure
Kirby's Avalanche
Kirby's Dream Course
Kirby's Super Star
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Kirby 64
If these end up being the games on the Collection and it's only 30 dollars like Mario was, this would actually be a pretty good for anyone that never downloaded any of these off the Virtual Console. Of course that's assuming all these games will be on it.

That's not true at all. Kirby Super Star is an existing Kirby compilation and is pretty much the Kirby equivalent of Super Mario All-Stars.
No, it's not. Super Star is a mini-game collection. It's not a collection of Kirby games in any possible way. So this will be the first Kirby compilation game. This is mostly true, though Spring Breeze is a remake of the first Kirby's Dream Land.
