Title: New Rewards on Club Nintendo for April
Post by: NWR_Neal on April 01, 2012, 09:38:25 PM

Club Nintendo users with spare coins can get Metal Torrent, You, Me & the Cubes, and Excitebike: World Rally.

Nintendo's Club Nintendo game rewards, which started late last year, are offering three new titles for coins earned by buying games and taking surveys.

The lone 3DS title is a DSiWare game called Metal Torrent, which is a shoot-'em-up made by Arika and published by Nintendo. It is available for 150 Coins, and you can check out our impressions of it for more info.

On WiiWare, there are two different games available. Excitebike: World Rally, for 200 Coins, is a modernized version of the NES classic developed by Monster Games, who worked on Excite Truck, Excitebots, and Pilotwings Resort. Check out our review for more details.

The second game is You, Me & the Cubes, which is developed by Kenji Eno, who is best known for the survival horror series D. This game is the polar opposite of that (sort of), as it is a weird puzzle game where you throw humanoid creatures onto cubes and try to balance them. It is available for 200 Coins. Check out our impressions for more details.

Club Nintendo users can get these games anytime between today and the end of the month, April 30. Remember, while Metal Torrent is a DSiWare game, the code given only works on the 3DS eShop.

I am interested in the Excitebike game, and could see myself giving Metal Torrent a chance.

Every month I think "Maybe next month will have better games that I can spend my coins on." and every month, I am wrong.

Excitebike is excellent.  Get it if you don't have it already.

It's just Excitebike with better graphics. I have it already in 3 forms: NES cartridge, unlocked version on Excitebike 64 and the 3DS freebee. So, while I agree it's a good game, it's a good game I already have 3 times.

I finally zeroed out my coins with these games. I like the selections; they are interesting titles but not the most obvious ones that you probably already bought.

I got my first (virtually) free Club Nintendo game with Metal Torrent. Was always interested in it, but never picked it up.

@Nemo:
You might not like the selection of games or you might already own them, but complaining that you have to wait for "better" games is silly. The games given away have been consistently good and occasionally excellent. Quality hasn't been an issue with what Club Nintendo offers - Fluidity, Mario vs DK, Dr Mario, Picross, and Kirby all being showcase titles - and this month is no different with both Excitebike World Rally and You, Me, and the Cubes available.

Nemo- it's not the same game.  The physics are way more interesting, there is a greater variety of levels, and the online play is great.

Cubes! I remember being intrugued by previews of this game but reviews were only fair. Now that it's free, I will give it a shot. Seems like a nice little puzzler.

Well, I don't mean to be negative to the point where I think YOU (or anyone else) should be unhappy with the selection.

Also, I don't know where I was the month when Kirby and Dr. Mario came out... because I definitely should have snagged those two. (Majora's Mask was a good choice that month, too, even though I already own it.)

And, if I had the chance to get it, Mario vs DK would be a good one for me.

And, I've played the new Excitebike for maybe 10-15 minutes. I don't recall it having different physics (but I'll take your word for it.) Still, for myself, I don't think it's the best way to spend my coins.

I'm tempted to get Metal Torrent, since I like the occasional shoot'em up, but I checked out some reviews and they weren't super favorable.

So... maybe next month will be better for me? In the meantime, I'm glad you all have free games you can enjoy. (And with Kid Icarus and Xenoblade, I have plenty of non-free games to occupy my time right now and in the near future.)

Years of lurking, and finally registering. ;)
Anyhow, Excitebike: World Rally has considerably more content than the original. What is it, 16 tracks, plus the editor? I'd say as long as you enjoy Excitebike, its a no brainer.

Well said.

I was just nit-picking about a word choice, and let my overzealous fanboy LOVE for Club Nintendo downloadable games get carried away.  It's a shame that these games don't appeal to you, but hopefully next month's selections will be more in tune with your wants.

(For what it's worth, I don't care for Excitebike either and won't be downloading that one. It's a fine game that  many people will like... but I'd rather spend my points elsewhere.)

Thanks man! I figured it was time, after years of reading. Long before the change from Planet Gamecube. :)
