Title: Animal Crossing 2?
Post by: Plugabugz on May 16, 2003, 05:44:18 AM
Does anybody know when Animal Crossing 2 (IF AC2 is a confirmed name) is due for USA release?
Or more particuarly, does anyone know if Animal Crossing 2 will get a European PAL release?

What's in it? Will it be an add-on pack? Will it be designed on Nintendo 64 infrastructure, or will it be a Gamecube-capable title?

Little, or nothing, was mentioned of it @ E3.

Nothing was mentioned at E3 unfortunately. 2004 is what I'm hearing as far as  release date is concerned.

Wait for Spaceworld for possible Mario 128 footage...

And Animal Crossing 2 won't come out in the U.S. till 2005 because I hear the game is still on the drawing board

It doesn't they have already announced it. Gamespy carried the coverage. I had a thread about it.

The game may hit Japan before the end of this year since it will be the first Nintendo game to suppost the SD cards, which a set date still needs to be addressed. Early next year for the US.

Nintendo's Japanese website already has screenshots of Animal Crossing e+. It looks almost identical to Animal Crossing.

EDIT:  Here's a link to the page with the screenshots.

I would doubt that Animal Crossing 2 will use the same engine as AC1.
Remember that AC was a port from the Nintendo 64, so the engine was designed around that hardware.

Personally, I would like to see AC2 Cel Shaded.

i don't think there will be an animal-crossing 2, but that is my guess. There will be an AC2 released in Japan but no AC2 in the usa don't take this as a rumor it is my guess of what will happen...

Isn't that because Animal Crossing e+ is simply the American Version brought to Japan with the e-reader features?

I think AC2 will be hitting the States, especially after the first one's success over here.

ACe+ is not a new game for us.  The Japanese didn't have the e-reader functions in their AC so, yes, it's basically the same game Americans got.

Yes, I think it is just a improved version of Animal Crossing 1. I think the main difference with the US version is that you can now take screenshots using the SD-card adapter. I've also read somewhere that this version of AC is going to be released in Europe sometime next year.  I don't think we are going to see a true AC2 for some time.

Heh, had to be an AOLer...
I peronally can't wait for AC2, I just finished up a session of AC and I would love to see some online love.  I don't really do much with online consoles since the Dreamcast, which I played a lot of.  This is the game that would make me buy the modem or broadband adaptor, depending on my online situation.   Being able to visit other people's towns would be great.  I wonder if they would make this a peer-to-peer deal or have a completely server-side game.  A P2P idea would be nice if a server just held town data, since it wouldn't have to completly depend on Nintendo supporting it.  You could, say, post your name and town on the PGC forums and say you were going to be on around 7 EST, then the other peson could connect.   Or maybe they could have plots of land in the online world for us to develop our town in, similar to 10six, the failed online shooter.  Either way, it would be great.

I don't mind the graphics, I think they have a lot of style to them, they aren't boring like just plain shiney polys.  I wouldn't say they should use the style for everything, but a light-hearted game like AC site nicely with it.

Actually, they're getting minor updates that even us U.S.'ers didn't get. I forget what though, besides new conversations.
