Still holding out on getting this game, a demo is on the way.

A demo of Mutant Mudds will be heading to the eShop in a few weeks, according to Jools Watsham through GoNintendo.

The demo will feature four of the main stages in the game (1-1, 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1) as well as one of the secret stages (secret 1-1). The demo is currently being looked at by Nintendo and is expected to be released onto the eShop within a few weeks.

If you were ever hesitant about buying the game, this demo will surely help you make up your mind. You can read our review of the full version of the game here.

I've got the game on my wishlist, so I'll definitely pick up the demo (and buy right out of it, no doubt).

Don't wait for the demo. Buy it right now. It's the second-best game on the system behind Super Mario 3D Land.

I do think Mutant mudds is a good game but it has some problems.

Enemies that attack from off screen, a terrible map,  no check points, upgrades that are not stackable, and finally gameplay with little to no variety.

Level design, graphics, and controls are perfect and the feeling of satisfaction is worthwhile, but damn it's frustrating

I don't agree that any of those are problems.

I got the game yesterday. Finished it today with a play time of 3h 41m, completing and getting everything. There were a few tricky spots, but all in all, it wasn't terribly hard. Then again, I was a Megaman freak back in the day, so I was already used to these type of challenges. For those that aren't, expect a challenge.

Even though this was meant to be reminiscent to the days of retro, I do wish there was more to it, both in design and content. $6-7 would have been a good price for this, as I feel $9 is a bit too much.
