Title: Madden Still Coming to Wii This Year

There might not be any more Tiger Woods, or any other game for that matter, but come August, Madden will be on Wii again.

Madden NFL 13 is coming to Wii this August, according to a tweet by @wiimakemadden, the official Twitter account of the Madden Wii development team. We have reached out to EA Sports for a 100% confirmation of the news.

With the current slate of Wii games dwindling more and more by the day, the game's release comes as somewhat of a shock, especially coming off of the heel's of Tiger Woods' absence on Wii this year. 

Madden NFL 13 might have the distinction of being one of the last games released for Wii, as this year's title is expected on August 28, and Wii U, Nintendo's next console, is coming out in the second half of 2012. 

The title will be the fourth version of Madden developed specifically for the Wii by a team at EA Tiburon. The previous three iterations of Madden on the system were motion-controlled ports of the PlayStation 2 version.

They made a PS2 version of Madden NFL 12, so I don't think it should come as a shock that the Wii will get this years version.

These yearly sports sequels usually end up being the last things released on a console. According to Wikipedia, Madden 08 was the final game released on the Gamecube, so it would be fitting if Madden 13 or 14 ends up being the final Wii game also.

The PS2 didn't die as abrupt a death as the Wii is/has.

Oh really? I didn't even know that.  I bet someone out there still plays the PS2 everyday.

I would have rather had Tiger Woods released this year than Madden but at least there will be at least one Wii game coming out in the second half of 2012...

The GameCube and XBox still got versions of Madden when they were selling way less than the Wii is now, so I would be shocked if Madden weren't coming to the Wii.

So, no Madden 3DS, but Madden Wii? OK, sure. Why not?
