Title: ***Official NWR Wi-Fi Night - Resident Evil: Revelaitons Raid Mode***
Post by: NWR_insanolord on February 13, 2012, 10:32:44 PM
Nintendo World Report will be holding a Wi-Fi Night for Resident Evil: Revelaitons' Raid Mode next weekend, February 24-26. Which day and what time would work best for everyone here? Also, make sure to post your 3DS friend codes to this thread (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=33812.0) and add other NWR readers, and notify them by PM so they can add you back.

I had no idea this game had multiplayer. I'll pick it up down the road for sure, but too many other games to beat right now.

I voted Saturday, because I have no social life, and darn it, I'll drag all y'all down with me! That, and I don't have to send the kid off to school the next morning.

Saturday or Sunday is good for me, although I voted Sunday "just because".
Time of day is the more critical factor. Getting game time before my little girl goes to bed is rare, and since I'm on the east coast staying up for evening sessions with the west coast crew would be unlikely.
Any idea how much time should we have invested in Raid Mode before showing up? I was planning on leaving that until after the main game was finished.

You know I had the exact same concerns. I haven't finished the single player yet and wasn't planning on doing raid mode until I had. And I also can't game until after my daughter goes to bed. Only, I'm on the west coast, and by the time I get online, everyone on the east coast is asleep. That's what happened with the Mario Kart Wifi Night we had. Got home from Legoland at 10, put the kid to sleep, and as I log in, the community room was empty. :-(

I couldn't put it in the poll, but if there are certain times that work better for people as well make sure to post them here. I want to pick a time that allows for the most possible participants, and the more info I have on what people want the better I'll be able to do that.

Can people who have Resident Evil Revelations join this?

Absolutely not. If the spine of your game case doesn't read Revelaitons you are not allowed to participate.

I recommend playing through a good chunk of Raid Mode to get a taste of it. It's not too difficult to get through the initial difficulty level, and even a good way into the 2nd difficulty level to get your equipment built up. I'm at Lv. 43 and I'm really having to restock all my items between missions on the hardest difficulty level.
I say we have a goal in mind for this game: Everybody try to get through the first difficulty level to unlock the Ghost Ship. The goal of the night should be to get as many people THROUGH the Ghost Ship as possible.*
*The Ghost Ship is fucking impossible. It throws really low-level enemies at you who go down with one or two handgun shots but do AN INCREDIBLE amount of damage with one hit. Lots of one-hit kills in this. I don't think it's possible with one person.

Having not tried Raid Mode yet, this sounds like a good plan.
My preference for a time to play is between 8pm and 11pm Eastern. Small window means I might get left out, but that's all I can commit to.

I've written up a "Raid Mode Guide" that's being edited. I think it should help people ease into the experience.
Current stats:
Lv. 45 (blue--beat Chasm & Trench with S ratings)
Favorite equipment:
Handgun Government Lv. 44 (5100 damage, three perk slots) High Roller Lv. 43 (2020 damage, four perk slots) Pale Rider Lv. 43 (31,300 damage, two perk slots)
Abyss difficulty is a goddamn nightmare.

You should probably dial your level down for the multiplayer night.

What? Why? I can still play in lower-difficulty levels.

You can play Raid Mode after you've beaten the first three chapters, so you don't need to beat the campaign to play with us.

I haven't gotten that far. I've been abnormally busy lately. I'm working on it.

I haven't gotten that far either, but I beat 1 and 2 in under 2 hours, so you've still got plenty of time.

Opening up Raid Mode isn't that hard (although I think chapter 3 is considerably tougher than the first 2). I'm not at all sure that I'll be finished the first set of Raid Mode levels though. Gaming time during the week is like gold: precious, and rarely found in my possession.

You will need to complete the game to unlock all the maps. I have pretty much done everything, so I would be more than happy to walk people through the game at what ever level you happen to be at.
I do not recommend a complete ghost ship run as that takes too long, like an hour+ a run. But a run to the true objective is time efficient and quite rewarding. I will not be a ghost ship run for anybody who is not level 45ish. You either go for the true objective or go home. People of lower levels will not make it through.
The problem your having on the ghost ship Halberd is that you were under leveled. Attacking higher level enemies does reduced damaged. In the other thread I recommended a minimum of level 45. Not to mention at the time your equipment is all out of whack.
We going to use IRC for this? FC: 3222 5727 4873. Remember to PM so I can counter code. As an additional note, lag shouldn't be much of an issue, it's surprisingly tolerant because of the game design, but if your lower level than I, I suggest you host so you can have host advantage.
I also suggest you go to Halberd's guide thread (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=37043.0), although not exactly for the guide itself as most of the information pertained within it is inaccurate as it does not reflect online realities. However the thread itself contains a lot of solid advice and I am available to answer questions there.

You will need to complete the game to unlock all the maps. ...
I'm still working through the game (probably about halfway through since I've just opening the second set of Raid stages). There is no way that I will have time to finish before the event, so will either volunteer to team up with similar low-level people on game night or skip this time and wait for the second round.
I am still interested in playing online this weekend though. So if talk about Ghost Ships and level 45+ is getting anyone down, don't fret! Just post here or send me a message and we'll be good to go. ;D
Question: does RE:Rev support the "Join Game" button on your friends list? I'm guessing not... but haven't checked or tried yet.

Because you need to complete the game to unlock everything and everyone's saying we should be at higher levels to do a lot of this, I'm thinking about pushing this event back a week to give people time to get through more of it. What do you guys think about that?

If you do push back the official night, maybe there should still be an unofficial "trial run" where people interested in playing get matched up with people at similar levels. I mean, what better way for relatively inexperienced gamers to reach higher levels and learn a little bit than actually playing with the community? The toughest part would be matching up before the event.

We can all still meet up this weekend, though.

I haven't actually unlocked Raid Mode yet. :)
I would be fine sitting it out, though, if everybody else felt they were ready to go.

It's not that we can't play or anything even on the lower levels. the game encourages you to play with anybody with the "infection" missions that provide mods that don't seem to appear with drops. It's that the lower level person becomes a bit of an Ashley since the high level guy could murder everything with one clip of pistol ammo. But it will help you quickly progress towards the more difficult levels and you don't lose out on exp/bp/mods/weapons.
So do come in an play even with a handful of levels unlocked. I can give you 1x handgun ammo for use in campaign :cool;
But **** the water levels. They are no fun.
Have we got a time and I do hope we will be using the IRC.

I'd still like to play with everybody. I'm at Lv. 50, and I've S-ranked everything except Terragregia 2 on Abyss (A-rank). I want some uber-drops. And I don't know what Infected missions are...
Title: Re: ***Official NWR Wi-Fi Night - Resident Evil: Revelaitons Raid Mode***
Post by: oohhboy on February 23, 2012, 11:16:59 PM
You won't get infection missions unless you go online. Infection Missions are passed from player to player and depending on infection type you have to met other people with the same infection a number of times to complete the mission. More rare the infection type, less passes are required to complete and greater the reward. In missions they will have the biohazard icon and have the name infection: G-virus or some other infection from the RE series.
It is also possible to have the "same" infection happen to you concurrently.
If you want to cycle through loot real fast I suggest doing multiple Mad Banquet runs as that will provide the second highest level loot besides a true ghost ship run and infection missions. Doing a Banquet run can only takes a handfull of minutes each while a true but not complete Ghost ship run goes on for about 20 minutes each. Doing lower levels in the same difficultly only gives lower level loot.

Yup, I really only do lower-level runs now to complete "kill specific dudes" missions. I'm slowly getting up to 100 complete missions (85!). The Ghost Ship is stupid hard even at Lv. 50. Seriously, I generally get raped in the "flooded catwalk" room with the dozens of respawning shooter-type Oozes and fast Scagdeads.

The nice thing about the 3DS is the more of these we do the fewer people regular participants will have to add each time since they'll already have a lot of them. When we did the events on Wii and DS it was a huge hassle each time.

We all have to stop playing Raid Mode.
Because it's the new crack.
Seriously, how fun and addicting is this? I've barely gotten to Level 7, and I can feel the feedback loop starting in my brain. It's WOW, basically.
