Title: Fire Emblem: Rekka No Ken has been confirmed to be released in the US
Post by: CHEN on May 14, 2003, 10:16:03 AM
Yes, finally an english version of Fire Emblem. I'm totally excited about this. Two player link mode, how cool is that! They finally heard our prayers. Guess voting the Nintendo poll actually paid of, so I am thanking you all who voted for Fire Emblem.

Too bad Roy's father is going to be called a noble instead of a lord.
Aw well, I'm totally excited for this game as you should be too. First Advance Wars 2, now this. I couldn't be happier.

Relax, they said the translation still needs to be tweaked. Maybe they'll change it back to Lord. Or maybe let's PROTEST!!!!

Those bastards should've made Roy's game in English instead of his dad's.  But oh well, at least it'll finally be in the US now.

I want to make sure that EVERYONE buys this game.  It will increase the chances of more Fire Emblem games making it over here, and it will really boost the chances that there will be a Fire Emblem GCN.

I perfer having Roy's quest(FE6) out first too but for a different reason. If this Fire Emblem success and they release Roy's quest here, trashy magazines will jump on it to bash the game by saying how Nintendo downgraded the game and removed all the cool stuff from the game when in fact Roy's quest was made BEFORE FE7 so some of the features weren't in the game.

Well I for one thinks it's better to release FE7, because I already have FE6 in Japanese and I'm still playing it. It will be nice to see the storyline in English and all, but I played the first missions ten times or so and it's getting (dare I say it) kind of boring. What I'm interested in is what new elements they're going to develope, like new classes, new weapons, Fa like boy/girl with more stones to use.
And with a multiplayer opton, it's a sign that it's going to be even better than FE6.

No, FE6 also had a multiplayer mode. It's kinda lame. You just go all out against someone else's army. I'm pretty sure it's the same with FE7. There's no real strategy to it. Anyway you seem to know a bit about Fire Emblem, are you someone from my Fire Emblem boards?

Looking forward to playing the game now since I will actually be able to understand the storyline and get into the series.

You're the legendary Terranigma Freak from the Sigurd's Pants FE site?!! All hail Terranigma Freak
I love the music, did you make it yourself? I usually hang out at Gamefaqs.

Really, FE6 has a multiplayer mode??! Didn't even notice, because of all the JAPANESE! Argh, if everyone was able to read Japanese, the world would be a better place

I never played FE4 Genealogy of the Holy War, so is it the best game ever? I really like to play it some time.

But erm, now on topic, FE7 is going to be the best game ever!

Wow! I'm legendary! I didn't even know that. Anyway yes there was a multiplayer mode in FE6 as well. It's rather disappointing. I'm sure the FE7 multiplayer mode is the same so both of them will connect and allow you to battle each other. Roy fighting with his father...

The question is...why the hell did it take so long to come to the US??

Hopefully Marth and Roy will now have english voices in the next smash brothers :-p

I don't care about the voices. They're not that important. I think they should keep it Japanese cause... I honestly don't know why... I guess it's fun to see what people would translate it to.

Too bad the English version of Soul Caliber 2 doesn't contain any Japanese voices. Or does it have an option to switch voices. Would be great though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't "Rekka No Ken" mean "Burning Fist of Fire?" Just trying to figure it out. My Japanese it quite rusty.

I would translate it as Sword of Fire, but I am by no means an expert.  "Ken" generally has to do with swords, and "Rekka" of course means fire.

From what I know, "Ken" means "Fist," though. I've written too many Ranma 1/2 fanfics... So, it can mean sword as well?

Well, I know that kenjutsu means swordplay, and many sword based martial arts will have "ken" as part of the name.  I am not sure what the word for fist is though, so it's entirely possible that "ken" could also be used for fist.

It does seem that the official translation agrees with me though.

Ya it probably is Sword of Fire, but from what I know from street fighter alpha.....Shinryu-Ken is the Dragon Fist, so in my book ken means fist.

I just checked a few dictionary... Ken does indeed mean fist, which basically means"punch" or "attack." Ken also means sword, though. Everyone's right.

In this case, Ken means sword. The Blazing Sword, Raging Sword Of Fire, Sword Of Fire, take your pick. The story is definitely about the sword Durandal. Although the Almace also plays an important role for Hector. It's a first for Fire Emblem to have an axe using Lord.

Yeah, "ken" in this case means sword.  BTW I thought I'd ask: Is the Sword of Seals really named the Durandal?

No the Sword Of Seals and Durandal are not the same. In Reka No Ken, the Sword Of Seals is not there(or still seals up). The Reka No Ken(sword of fire) is the Durandal.
