The Drawsome Tablet for the Nintendo Wii will see release later this year.

Ubisoft's Drawsome Tablet, a device using a pen as input, is coming out on December 6 on the Nintendo Wii.

The tablet contains a 6.5-by-5 inch touch screen on which players will be able to draw on for the various games supporting the device. The tablet features SD card support so artwork can be transferred between devices. At this point only the two games bundled with the tablet have been announced: Drawsome Artist and Drawsome Sketch Quest. It was also noted that the Smurfs franchise will be included in the experience in some way.

Is this on the review schedule?  I'm curious how it compares to the uDraw tablet.

Not at the moment. I would think THQ will be interested in comparisons too. In a lawsuit. To quote another staffer "Wait. They weren't made by the same company? Even the included games are the same!"

They keep referring to the touch panel as a screen, but even their video doesn't show it active as a screen... and if that isn't the case, this doesn't really prototype the Wii U at all, unlike what they've been saying.

So it's just an updated uDraw pad?

How can one say "nothing is coming out for the Wii!" when this launched this week?  I jest but I did pick this up as a Christmas gift for my five year old daughter.  I figure she will enjoy the quasi-platformer and coloring the Smurfs.  Plus, the tech is newer and the touch panel seems like it will be more precise and responsive.

You'll have to tell me how it works out.  My 3 Year old and I were playing Skylanders together but he decided to mimic the game at daycare and now we can't play it anymore.  I had to sit down and explain the differences between a Little Boy and a Skylander.  He thought it was funny when I tried to show him he doesn't fit on the Portal of Power...

More precise and responsive than what? The uDraw tablet?

I haven't used the Drawsome tablet, so I can't compare, but the uDraw uses radio tech much like a Wacom tablet, so it's quite precise and responsive.
