The first footage from the upcoming Ace Attorney movie has been revealed for all to see. The video is ripped from a morning variety program, so naturally there is excited talking over the majority of the clip. It's nonetheless worth a look for fans of the series.

An official trailer is scheduled to be released on November 5.

I tried to listen in on the Japanese, but all I heard was the roar of a Jet Engine set to take off power. It's all here, there and over there.

Japanese live action TV and movies doesn't have a legacy of quality, but it has greatly improved of late, so I wouldn't count this out, if nothing else it might be a good watch just out of curiosity. The new Space Battleship Yamato movie is a live action version of the anime and it's not bad, especially when you consider it was made with only 12 million.

The only thing I am not happy about is who they cast for Maya Fey. Looks nothing like her, let alone a 17 year old. Mia Fey on the other hand looks good. Phoenix s hair looks surreal as hell in the flesh.

That was my thought exactly. Maybe it's that she looks downright cranky in all the clips you see, not the bright, bubbly person you'd expect her to be. Also, if you check this out;

Her hair is the perfect length to play the part. So WHY did they cut her fringe so damn short? It looks like she's wearing a wig and it's slipping off backwards.

She looks more like Maya in that Comparison shot then the Movie Trailer.

A new trailer is out you can see it here (http://www.gyakutensaiban-movie.com/). It is on the lower right hand side of the page. It also has the first trailer without the jet engine in the foreground.

Maya doesn't look any better. I am getting the impression that they have badly missed characterised her. Or that they literally taken ever scene she looks intense, stressed or otherwise preoccupied and placed them in the trailers.

Why is there a cockatoo on the site there? Is that meant to be Polly? And if so, was that the only trained bird they were able to get for the movie? Maya's hair is still completely wrong - the others look quite good though.
And this weird hologram-shoving concept looks plain silly - what was the purpose? Throwing actual evidence around would have been much funnier.

I honestly think the only reason they did the holograms was so they could use more exaggerated arm movements.

oh god. why are they going serious with this? either way an anime would have been the better move imo

Movies like this actually take their cues from Anime. The acting, direction, right down to the cinematography comes from Anime. The whole shoving holographic evidence is Anime, but somehow hand-waved or justified in real life for the movie. If this movie was animated, it wouldn't be much different from this except maybe Germans aren't played by Japanese people.

You have no idea how bad a serious Japanese TV show or movie is. I am not talking about how on average a person would find most TV shows terrible. Their average level of terribleness is worse is just that bad. Even Bollywood gets it's so bad it's good factor and dance numbers if you really like that kind of thing. A hotel worker spending the running time of a show to clean a white shirt and it's conclusion(It gets dry cleaned with a cleanser suggested from a co-worker) is considered serious drama. They take the trouble to dub, not subtitle, shows from the west so they have something good to watch. I have seen Japanese Friends and 90210, it doesn't work as well as it should.

Be happy you're NOT getting their serious stuff. Be grateful only the very best of their serious stuff filters out of Japan. The rest is BAD.
