The new NFL Blitz looks to return the franchise to its arcade roots, and from what we’ve seen based on our hands-on time, it looks like this was an easy score for EA. Aside from 30-yard first downs and 2-minute quarters, you’ll see post-play elbow drops, players launching themselves across the field like missiles to make unbelievable tackles, and guys just getting the ever-loving stuffing beaten out of them without a single yellow penalty flag in sight. Of course, the guys at developer EA Tiburon (the same folks behind Madden) are also offering some gameplay upgrades, like the collision system and each team getting their own individualized special play on offense in the universal playbook—like my New York Giants’ “Big Apple” play. It’s all part of the new experience that is NFL Blitz.

and it's looking good.

As long as it plays like the old Blitz, I will likely get this asap on Wii U.
Custom on the fly plays will be HUGE addition to this quick style of play. Wii U version will be definitive if it uses the touch screen like it should.

Looks dope. I have to agree with one of the favorited comments though: "If this game won't let you tackle after the play is over, no buy from me."

ha ha ha ha ha (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MorR04iLtMw#t=57s)

Seriously though, I think you're right about the Wii U being a huge addition. Last time I played a blitz game was on 64 and there where 32 plays total and a whole lot of competitiveness. It was easy to tell where people we're going and what not so I ran the QB sneak or fake QB sneak alot. Ya had to. If I can draw in some hot routes and do some crazy **** on the fly, I can only imagine how crazy competitive this game will get.

Now if only Nintendo would confirm MULTIPLE TABLETS, we'd be hearing a lot more hype.

I ,like Stogi, played one of the N64 games. I think it might have been the last version on the N64. It was pretty fun and a good way to blow off steam. There is the groundwork for a Wii U version. Just look at the early DS Madden games. Considering that the Blitz series is pretty in your face there could be some use for the screen in unfair ways like having items which could mess with the screen in certain ways. Mess up play callings and things like that.

The original NFL Blitz games were ruined by the interference of the No Fun League.  They didn't like the image the violent chaotic nature of the Blitz games presented and thus insisted on the series becoming more and more sim like with each game.

Well the NFL still is a stick in the mud and recently has been cracking down on hits to the head, and brutal knock-out hits are exactly the sort of thing one wants to see in NFL Blitz.  I don't trust the NFL.  They will **** this game up.  Anything resembling the original Blitz would have to be made right under their noses.

So post play mayhem is in, because that is where alot of fun has been had. Hating on celebrations or just adding insult to injury, but fun nonetheless

& Custom plays better make it in the Wii U version. The tablet allows for not only on-the-fly custom plays, last second route changes, game stats, play selection display (so you don't forget which play you just picked), but also a screen to enter your "cheat" codes in secret.

I'm so in on this. I played NFL Blitz 99 (?) on the N64 over and over again.

NFL Blitz was about the only football game I've ever gotten some enjoyment from. This could turn out interesting, but let's hope it isn't another debacle of the NBA Jam variety.

Well this time they're going straight to the download platforms, so it seems like they learned something from NBA Jam.
