Various publishers have released the games they will be showing at Tokyo Games Show 2011, and here is the complete list as we know so far:

These are the games I'm interested in knowing about from that list.

Shinobi
Kingdom Hearts 3D

Just putting that list in a better place.  I do think its funny that Cooking Mama is getting to be more gender Diverse in the title.

They're seriously STILL not showing Dragon Quest X?  Yeah, that game's been moved to the Wii U (or maybe has even gone multiplatform).  There's no way that game releases on the Wii now if they aren't prepared to show it in the Wii's last year of any viability.

It could be that they announced a number but not all the games. I haven't spoken to Japan Team about the origins of the list, but it isn't unusual for us to know how MANY games will be shown but not the names.

TGS always lists the total number of games, but it's up to the individual publishers to announce the specific games they're showing. I expect more announcements as we get closer to the event.

The difference in the number is, yes,  that not all have been revealed yet, but I can't help but feel there will be scores more filler from Arc System Works and possibly even student made projects and game engine demos.

If you're expecting every single one of the missing games to be megatons though - don't.

At least there is going to be a Dragon Quest game and a Monster Hunter game revealed though right?

That's certainly a possibility, but Dragon Quest X is a known release.  I don't see why Square-Enix or Nintendo would hide it from the release list of a convention that will be focused squarely on Dragon Quest's core audience, especially since they've been so lazy been allegedly working so hard on the game for such a long time now.  The only reason I can think of for that game to not be on the release list is if there's going to be a surprise unveiling for it on a different console or even the 3DS/Vita.  It's too high profile for it to be a surprise unveiling for a game that allegedly already exists.

ZERO chance of DRX coming out on 3DS, and even less on Vita. It will come out on an established system. I still see it coming out on Wii, even if it's after the Wii U is released (after all, DW VII came out on PS1 after PS2 came out).

Here's the thing, though: Square-Enix and Nintendo want Dragon Quest to do well outside Japan.  If this game still releases on Wii after the Wii U and whatnot release, it will only sell in Japan no matter how much money Nintendo flushes down the toilet on marketing.  Well, upon reflection in all fairness NoE has treated their RPG fans right lately.  It could still sell in Europe.  That'll especially be true if Nintendo of America continues to just screw around and let the Wii die the horrible agonizing death they have brought about through their complacency.  You can make the argument that it could ride the coattails of a typical poor Wii U launch lineup, but I don't see that happening for Dragon Quest.

And I wouldn't brush off the Vita so easily on this.  Atlus just announced a port of Persona 4 on the thing, and that's a niche (though awesome and most importantly popular) game if there ever was one.  And if Persona 4 does well on it, and judging by the very good sales of Persona 3 PSP that's pretty likely, that's a strong argument in Japan for something like a DQ X.  Japan isn't very fond of consoles right now, so it wouldn't surprise me (though it would sadden me).

How about DQX on Wii in Japan early next year, then DQX: HD Collectors Edition being a launch window game for Wii U?
Of course by HD I mean nothing changed at all just upscaling it like a PC emulator does.

Failing that, just the Wii game with a big yellow sticker on the front saying "ALSO WORKS ON WII U"

The Persona sub-series is niche (well, all games in the Shin Megami Tensei series are) as you noted, and the audience of that series tends to buy Sony systems. The Dragon Quest games go on the best selling system, no chance it will come out on a brand new system with a low install base (especially is the system does as poorly outside of Japan as the PSP did). On Wii, they could do stuff like put "Compatible with Wii U" on the box and market it that way. I think the only way it would come out on Vita is if the system managed to do something like sell 20 million systems its first year.

I could maybe see something like fami's idea though.

Nintendo should just release a list of western and Japanes games being developed for the 3DS.
 
I do not see DQX being ported to the 3DS, but I do see DQ7 and DQ8 being ported to the system instead with spotpass features and online modes similar to Dragon Quest 9.

No point to release DQX on the WII at this point.  There's no screenshots and who's even developing the game?  Level 5 already has 4-5 games they are working on which are confirmed so I doubt it's them. 

No release date is given so you're looking at late 2012 at best more likely 2013 which by that time the WII would be considered dead.  No I don't think the WII U will get the game neither, more likely it's going be an handheld title because that's where the Japanese RPG's fans are.  So it's either Vita or 3DS is my vote.

Two, if Nintendo plays their cards right they would WANT it that way anyhow, in Japan DQ is still an system seller so it would be an instant boost in 3DS sales.

Looking forward to Resident Evil Revelations and WII U news (most likely there's going be lots more video of actual gameplay at TGS I bet).

That's the pattern the series has taken up to this point, but that doesn't mean the series will always follow said pattern.  Square-Enix has spent too long screwing around with this game, amazing considering how mechanically basic these games always are.  By the time this game finally released on Wii, they would be the only major company (including Nintendo) still releasing Wii games.  You can't say that IIRC for any of the previous numbered Dragon Quest games, which is why I think the pattern breaks here.

I think it much more likely that this game goes multiplatform in some capacity, much as its company has over the past few years.  Whether that's Wii and Wii U; 360 and PS3; or 3DS and Vita is debatable, but one thing I'm gradually becoming sure of is that this is not going to be just a Wii game.  Square-Enix needs a bigger hit than just a Wii game that will sell only in Japan these days, especially with the Wii in the severely weakened state it's in software-wise.

Added Monster Hunter to the list, hope it comes with the slide-pad/SegaCD addon attachment!


Another year, another MonHun game at TGS, but I'm somewhat curious about this one.
