Title: Professor Layton Hits DS One Last Time in October

Professor Layton's London Life, a bonus RPG, will be unlocked from the start for the North American version.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter, the fourth in the series and last on DS, is coming out in North America on October 17.

The game, which came out in Japan in late 2009, is actually a prequel, kicking off a new trilogy of games that detail the origins of Layton and Luke's relationship.

In Japan, the game also featured Professor Layton's London Life, a 100-hour RPG created by Mother 3 developers Brownie Brown. This will be unlocked from the start in the North American version.

The game's story is followed up with Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, a film that is being brought over to North America in November.

It should be made clear that the 100 hour figure for Layton's London Life was given by Akihiro Hino, the president of Level-5, so it's best to take it with a grain of salt. Almost no RPG is that long.

Regardless, it's great that London Life is in there at all. I know some people were fearing that, for localisation reasons, it might be taken out of the Western versions. Now it's wait and see on whether Europe should be so lucky.

Hmm anyone know anything else about London Life? Does it have any of the charm of Mother 3? Hell, what's it even like?

More importantly, when is this Layton episode hitting its primary market, i.e. Europe?
