Title: 3DS Ambassador Confirmation Tool Available Now
Post by: NWR_pap64 on August 19, 2011, 10:09:26 PM

Early adopters of the 3DS can now confirm their status.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/27543

The Ambassador confirmation page is available now for North America and Australia.

Players who already bought the 3DS prior to its price change can visit the page here and here for Australian players. Once they access the site, they must enter the serial number of the handheld (Tip: leave out the number in the square at the end if it doesn't work). The status will then be confirmed.

When this is completed, players will be able to receive free games to download onto their handhelds.

For (at least) North America, DO NOT enter the last digit of your serial number (the one in the square box) into the toolbar. If you enter every letter/number of your serial, it tells you that you aren't eligible, but without that last one, it tells you that you are. I'm gonna call NoA to make sure I'm squared away even though it told me that I was eligible.

I will check later, but I SHOULD be part of it since I downloaded 3D Classics: Excitebike, Pokedex 3D, the Netflix app, and every 3D video they had from E3, so I should be part of it.

I'm confused... I entered EVERY digit and got the confirmation. I don't understand your argument. I also don't understand how it's possible to get the confirmation without every character typed in. Anyways, go ahead and call, but it worked for me. I think everyone should just type the number as they see it; then call Nintendo if it doesn't work out.

When I typed every single digit into the bar, it said that the system was not eligible for the ambassador program. Then I read on another site about leaving out the last digit, and it worked after that. It appears this may be a North America thing (if that's not where you're from).

LOL, maybe Pedro edited it after Pajamas comment, but the OP mentions that hint.

Hmm… I downloaded Let’s Golf 3D two weeks ago and when I entered my code BOTH upper case and lower case it said my “Information is not available for this serial number.” I also tried it with and without the last digit, it didn’t mater. I’m not worried because I can still prove I’m an ambassador (because I’ve received two Spotpass updates concerning it). But what’s the point of having a confirmation page if it only creates doubt in individuals like me who were confident in their enrollment in the first place? If I can’t confirm it soon then I will have a problem.

If you recall all the crap that happened with the OoT soundtrack givaway, it's pretty obvious Nintendo's web people don't know how to work a website very well.

Well lets see. should i check, is checking needed?
i downloaded videos from e3, i have the usual suspects of free software.
i even called tech support with my name and unit serial number 2
weeks after launch. not to mention i registered the unit, before the cut off date.
so is checking needed?  is it like a confirmation without which
i get screwed like some kinda doctor evil fine print.?

Weird, I just checked it again and I was verified and okay. Maybe they had a hiccup. Good to know though.

I just checked (I included the number in the box since the Nintendo page says to), and it confirmed that I am eligible for the Ambassador program.

Weird.  I tried it first with the final boxed number and it failed.  The second time, I tried it while leaving the number off, and it was successful.  Then I tried it a third time with the full number again, and it was also successful.

Being an importer from Australia, I got sliiiightly worried after the Australian confirmation page that launched last week failed to confirm my digits. Confirm them they didn't! I knew I had to wait 'til this American one launched before poopin' bricks totally though. All is good!

Serial Number: "CWXXXXX405"  Eligibility: You are a Nintendo 3DS Ambassador!

I had to include both the CW and the numbers that followed, including the one in the box. I'm in North America.

Hope this helps.  ;D

LOL, it's not a big deal of course. All this does is let you confirm you are in the program, you don't need to do it though.

Pro Tip: You can also look up your serial number on Club Nintendo if you don't have it on you.

Weird how they're doing both the eShop and the serial number, seems like one or the other should have been enough.

You don't need to enter your serial number on any of these sties, this is merely for your convenience to see if you are eligible or not. You will still get your games even if you don't do it. Not sure about the eShop part though.

The eShop already tells you if you're eligible, that's why this is redundant.

I guess they just want to make it more convenient, I don't know. I haven't accessed the eShop in weeks.

I got my 3DS with the price drop on the 11th at Wal Mart, rushing home, knowing that due to the time difference where I live, I only had 20 minutes to connect to the eShop to be eligible. I booted up the 3DS to find that it didn't come with current firmware, and I needed to update. I tried, but it kept failing. My time was up. The next morning I booted it up to try again, just for kicks. I found that I set the clock wrong (didn't convert to military) and that was the problem. I updated and got the eShop, but it was a bittersweet victory, I didn't meet the August 12th deadline. I sent an email to NOA customer support to see if they could throw me a bone, and got an email back saying that they were working with things and I'd get a reply by the end of the week. A day after this Serial Checker surfaced, I got 2(from different reps, not sure why, both form letters) saying I should check out my code to see if I'm eligible, and somehow, I made it. So yeah, I'm getting the 20 free games and I got the discount, which I probably would have never thought to do unless it had been mentioned on RFN.
