Title: Harry Potter (not mafia) Movie Marathon?
Post by: UncleBob on July 06, 2011, 10:24:59 AM
So, I'm not a *huge* Harry Potter fan. I read all the books and enjoyed them. Saw the first few movies and they were okay - I think Goblet of Fire was the last one I saw...
Anyway, one of the local theaters is doing an All-Day marathon, starting at 5:00AM of the Harry Potter movies.
This sounds pretty gosh-darn awesome. I want to go, but I have to find someone to go with. Tickets are like $34 for the entire thing (including the new movie at 12:01).
Whacha think? Something you could stomach?

Local being up in Indiana. If your were closer I would try to stomach that. My Wife would love it though.

Oh, I wasn't looking for someone from the forums to go with me - I haven't really discussed it with any friends yet (just talked to my wife about it and she's working).
I was just wondering what the folks here think about such an event.

I now feel offended.
Seriously though, Marathoning the first 2 movies be cool but, the third and on sound like some form of torture. Though I could see that being a riot with the right people and a disregard for film going etiquette.

Seeing how ABC Family has all day marathons of Harry Potter every 3 months or so, I can see the appeal. If I didn't own the films already I would probably be interested in this activity, just for the sake of saying I did it. Though there would have to be nap time in there somewhere... I'm not sure I could handle 5:00 am til past midnight on my ass in a dark room without a break when sex is not involved.

I would do something like this despite the time involved. In both cases it eas a few years ago, but I caught both the three Robocop movies, and the three Matrix movies back to back on two rare occassions that I had a lot of my handle and the house to myself. Seeing the three Matrix movies in succession made me like them, and the three Robocop movies were the same. However, the Harry Potter series is very disjointed because of the changing of directors. Each brought his own style to the movie and it make seeing them in order lose the appeal a little bit, but I just feel like it would be an interesting event.

I would need a lot of beer or a couple slips of paper, but that might change my life.

They obviously don't show Deathly Hollows: Part 1, and rarely show Half-Blood Prince. They love showing the first five though. Anyways, I own all of them on Blu-ray Disc except Goblet of Fire (I can't find the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copy pack of it), plus I don't wouldn't get up at 4AM just to watch them in theatres.
