Title: Telltale Games Offering Free WiiWare Games
Post by: NWR_pap64 on June 16, 2011, 09:05:50 PM

Completing a survey nets you chapters 4 and 5 of Tales of Monkey Island.

Telltale Games is offering chapters 4 and 5 of their episodic WiiWare game, Tales of Monkey Island, for free after completing a survey on their site.

Players interested in the offer must answer the questions, which Telltale expects to take 5 to 10 minutes. At the end, players must give their own Friend Code, and are given a Friend Code that they must input on their system in order to receive the game. The site warns that the quantities will be limited and that delivery of the game might take up to a week.

Interested players can complete the survey here.

Hmm... When they offered Episode 3 for free, I signed up. Nothing happened. Later they sent an email saying that I was still eligible to get that Episode for free if I added their friend code again... still no dice.  So I moved on and decided to forget about Tales of Monkey Island.

Well, if this works I'll go back and buy Episode 3.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess.

Thanks for the tip!

I signed up and got Episode three free some time ago.  Months later, they gifted me 4 and 5 as well. :D

Monkey Island is worth the five minutes it takes, though I doubt the issues that they had with audio compression on the Wii have been magically fixed.  At least I can say that Episodes 4 & 5 of the PC were worth playing.  Episode 4 is particularly interesting because it sort of starts to turn the established Monkey Island mythos on its head.

Did anyone else get these games? Did anyone else try?

I did the survey very quickly after this news was posted here, and did everything necessary to receive on my part.  No response or action from TellTale yet though... If I've been led on for a second time I'll be rather disappointed in the company.

I got a message last week saying they sent me a message and were waiting for a response. I actually never got a message, but shot them a quick note. I then had to enter in a different Wii code and I just got my games today. I'm excited since I've never played any Monkey Island games.

Awesome to hear someone got games. I dropped their friend code this weekend after not hearing or receiving anything and have given up hope at this point. Second time with same results. Oh well - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Worth mentioning that TellTale did come through! It took a long time, but they lived up to the promise last week. Quite the surprise since I wasn't expecting anything to happen by that time.

Might not mean much, but they have also won a sale of episode 3 so that I can finish off the series - a sale that certainly wouldn't have happened if not for this promotion.

Yeah, I got mine late as well, it was a surprise. They may have had some difficulty in sending them out, due to Nintendo's restrictions on Wii friends; only 100 can be registered, so if they had more than 100 to give out, they would need to either get another Wii system, or delete people they've already sent them to and add other people.
