Title: Sonic Generations for 3DS Revealed
Post by: Crimm on May 17, 2011, 04:57:14 PM

Sega revealed the previously unknown version of the upcoming Sonic adventure in their financial announcement.

Sonic Generations is apparently headed to the 3DS. The upcoming 2D/3D platformer was listed in Sega Sammy's earnings report.

The game, which had previously only been announced for the Xbox 360 and PS3, unites the "classic" 2D Sonic gameplay with the "modern" 3D platformer. Generations features levels playable in both 2D and 3D modes and is a major part of Sega's commemoration of Sonic's 20th Anniversary.

Sonic Generations will be released later this year.

Gamespot also reports a PC version. (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6314215/sonic-generations-speeding-to-3ds-pc)

With the announcement of a 3DS version, it is even more odd that there isn't a Wii version. Didn't Sonic Colors on the Wii (as well as the DS) brighten Sega Sammy's annual report the most? Hmm, maybe they're saving the man power for a Project Cafe Sonic launch title. Oh man, that would be really weird.

@blacknmild
But as far as I've heard, cafe won't release until like 2nd quarter 2012, compared to the release date for Sonic Generations this winter. Still possible?

I herd about this a few weeks ago, but didn't bother since it was a rumor. I guess it's nice its coming to the 3DS, the videos of the classic side scrolling look amazing, the 3D makes me want to throw up. Take a looksy. And I loved Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 sonic stages.

Thats interesting.  Did anyone else catch the back ground music  slowdown?  It was like the system was having a hard time with it but, that rest was going smoothly.

How is anything Sonic related news worthy in 2011? How long has it been? 15 years since an OK Sonic game? Get over it people.  On A slightly different note, I saw a hedgehog the other day (quite common where I live) and it got me thinking, do Yanks and other places have hedgehogs? Or is it more of a UK thing?

1. Wii thirdparty is dead as a doornail. But sonic colors sold well a few month ago. why would sonic generations suddenly fail when sonic titles performed well all gen long
2. Cafe is not out this winter and nobody knows if the kids audience that bought sonic on wii on droves will buy a cafe right away
3. PS3 didnt stop multiplats comming out on ps2

You know using a picture from one of the Storybook Series games for that last one is sort of ironic.  His friends are only in them for the most part as cutscene characters and the core of the game is speed, but why oh why did they ditch the Secret Ring system in Knight for that sword and control scheme...
