Title: New Player's Choice Titles for $29.99!
Post by: RickPowers on May 06, 2003, 09:58:43 AM
If you're short on cash, you can still pick up these bona-fide hits!

Nintendo has added five new titles to it's Player's Choice lineup.  Nintendo Player's Choice games are titles that have sold well since their release, and will now retail for only $29.99.

So which titles have been added?  Glad you asked.  Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader, Agent Under Fire, Spider-Man, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and Resident Evil have all joined Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The changes should be immediate, but be sure to check your retailer.  While it will take a while for the updated box art to reach stores, retailers have "Player's Choice" stickers that they can put on the titles denoting their new status.

I haven't even seen the original lineup of Player's Choice titles yet.  Is the offer available in Canada?  I don't even see the prices marked down.

Oh and why are these $30 instead of $20 like the competition?   These aren't cartridges Nintendo!

I can usualy find these games for 20 dollars because they suck so bad, but now I get to pay 30 if I want one just because Nintendo made them Player's Choice titles so the prices would race.. and now they might look interesting! Thanks Nintendo, I cant wait to throw down an extra 10 dollars!

This was a mixed batch of games. I was hoping for games from Nintendo games. Oh well. The more the better. PS2 has a gazillion games on their Greatest Hits. Come on, Nintendo.

Hmmm....  I can find Resident Evil for $30 right now, but I want to see it cheaper yet before I buy it.  I hope that this means a further price drop.  (I live in Canada)

Call me El Cheapo but 29.99 MSRP? Should I be groveling at Nintendo's feet? "Oh thank you Nintendo for giving me a reduced price on games, yet games like Elder Scrolls 3 on XboX are 20 dollars..."

Granted I need to pick up Sonic Adventure 2 (again) I traded it for a DreamCast and Soul Calibur (long story, but  I couldn't resist) and I'm sure I can it for 20.

You people have to remember Microsoft is also losing $100+ per console. They are willing to take losses. Nintendo is just here to make profits. Not to dis Nintendo, because I think that's the smart thing to do.

Nintendo has said it's very weary of making software cheaper out of concern for the health of the industry.
At this time when so many developers are losing millions and facing possible death (fortunately, Nintendo isn't even close to being included in this category), it realizes that lowering the price of software could have terrible consequences.
A lot of developers are losing money on the PS2 because all last year gamers were preoccupied with buying the greatest hits games instead of new software. So many of the greatest hits game stayed high on the charts all year while so many new games underperformed. Why buy any other racing games for full-price when you can get GT3 ultra-cheap afterall. Good for gamers, but bad for third-party developers of racing games.

I think the new Players Choice games are great,  i'll be picking up the RE remake for sure.... I was really thrilled to find out that EB & Gamestop down here in florida were selling Eternal Darkness for 14.99 BRAND NEW!  It was a funny thing because they had it used for 3 bucks more *rolleyes*....  anyway, that was a deal I couldn't pass up.  (hopefully I can get RE without the 'players choice' box,  I always like getting the original look).

Michael did indeed bring up some good points. By understanding what he said, I can understand why Nintendo is charging $30 for their re-releases. Definitely smart thinking on their part.

I'm glad Agent Under Fire is now part of the Player's Choice package. I had a blast with this title when I rented it a while back, but I couldn't get it because my parents thought it wasn't worth spending $50 for. Now that it's $30, I'm sure they'll let me get it this time.

lol...on the SNES (and N64 maybe don't remember) Player's Choice was awarded to million seller games....and look how many there were! Practically every game worth remember from the SNES was a million seller/Player's Choice.

And where the heck is my Wave Race: Blue Storm. I want to buy it but not for 50 bucks...I gotta buy other junk like F-Zero and such too....at least I found Timesplitters 2 for 30 bucks.
