Today Nintendo opened the official website for Star Fox 64 3D, and also revealed the game's Japanese release date.

Star Fox 64 3D will launch in Japan on July 14, 2011. No possible pricing was listed on the site.

Besides a concrete release date, Nintendo also showed off some footage of the game in the form of a cutscene. You can check out the video below.

This brought tears to my eyes.  This is my favorite game of all time and it still has the same graphic style and music, only they've both been lovingly updated.  This game is the reason I bought a 3DS.

This game is on my list.  Though looking at the visuals I sort of wish they did a little more and added some of the color type customization for each wingman a little bit.

Oh, man. That looks so awesome. I hope U.S. gets a solid release date soon. And hopefully it's not too far off.

While never my favorite game, this is the one that made me believe in the 3DS. Bring it on!

Though the "shooter" missions in Pilot Wings Resort make me a little leery of my ability to keep the 3DS still enough to enjoy the 3D effect in such an action heavy game as SF64. :(

Holy smokes.  If you haven't already, go to that website.  Love the updated take on the opening. And I feel like I'm hearing more instruments in the music? Am I crazy? If nothing else, this MUST be a sign the franchise hasn't been forgotten and we'll be getting a new version soon...  if it sells well, perhaps.
